Like "I'm color blind!", another weird defense that pale people use to deflect discussions of race is to accuse POC of "Reverse Racism." I liked this treatment of the topic:

Reminds me of an article I read about how white people are afraid to even discuss race, for fear that we'll come across as racist just for doing so.  Basically, history/popular culture only gives us negative examples of how to talk about race, so people choose to clam up instead.  However, research shows that people who do this are perceived as unfriendly and prejudiced anyway, so it backfires.
