Sam Windy Boy Jr

Sam Windy Boy Jr is Chippewa-Cree from Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana. He is a full blood. He is a Viet Nam Vet. He claims to have a PHD in clinical pychology from Stanford University. He came to the Baltimore/Annapolis area about 8 years ago. His Indian name is Walking Bear and that is or was the name of his Drum.

At the time of my meeting him he lived in Davidsonville, MD in a house owned by Diane Bynum. This was in 1997. He said that he was on the path of being a Spiritual Elder. At the time he said he was 57. He also claimed that he was writing a book that was to be published by Fulcrum press. He ran a sweat lodge but he did not charge for these.

He also said  that he was a member of the Native American Church, and judging by the size of the tipi in the backyard, that would be its only purpose, though from what I knew, they were not kept up as a permanent fixture (I could be wrong). He also claimed to be a Sundancer. My "friendship" continued until 1998.

There were many rumors about him; inviting young women to peyote ceremonies and taking advantage of them, and also young men. I was warned by some Clan Elders to stay away from him and so I did.

Then in 1999 he was arrested for child molestation. The girl was only ten and her family had been sucked into going to his sweats and "prayer circles", etc. He was tried and convicted and given 5 years probation.The Iroqious Confedercy made an official proclamation of banishment against him, that he can never set foot on any of thier lands.

I have not thought about him in years but I realized that his probation must be up. I did a search and just found old articles about him and some Veteran's Powwows he put on years ago. But the Obits in Montana showed that his Mother died Feb of 2004 and it said "Sam Windy Boy Jr of Davidsonville, MD" and so I assume that he may still be in the area.

So heads up on this man. If any one knows where he is living please let me know. I know that child molesters are supposed to register where they live but I do not know how to go about finding this info. And I can assure you, he ain't no spiritual elder. Beware

I just found this article. Its from 2003 but that would be the time he would still be on probation. I just ca't believe that Windy Boy is still trying to pass himself off as anything that has to do with spiritual. Should I contact these people, this center mentioned in the article? I could use some advise if anyone lokk like to give me some.

I would do as elders did with you, try to warn people. That's also what I would want anyone to do if it were my nieces or nephews around there. There are some people who would say forgive him if he's done his time, try to heal. That may be, but this is a sickness that doesn't change easily.

First off, the elders wared you that this is still going on with him. It's a compulsion with types like these, and any youth that are nearby should be kept away. Whether to report him to nearby authorities for not registering as an offender is a different matter. Some would say deal with this among his own people. I can see that point, but if this Indian Center doesn't heed your warning, you may have to go to the authorities. The local police would be able to tell you where sex offenders are supposed to register.

Thank you for your advise. I have just checked with the MD DOC and registering here it seems like is a volutary thing. Thats sad.

This past weekend I spoke with someone that told me that Windy Boy is still living in Davidsonville. Again this was an Elder and just like when I asked the other Elder about the Garretts I was met with silence but at least I was told for sure where he still is.

Hello.  I realize your post is from January, but I wanted to respond in the interest of public safety.  

I ran across your post while doing a background check on Sam Windyboy, Jr.  The background check was prompted by a complaint from a woman in Northern Virginia who dated him for several months.  He portrayed himself as the spiritual leader of all the Northern U.S. tribes, and actually called this coalition the "Clan of the Cave Bear." He described to her an elaborate 2 year courtship process.  Then he borrowed several thousand dollars from her and disappeared.  All of this happened in late 04 and earlier this year.

He is apparently still in the Washington DC metro area, perhaps scamming others.  The Maryland Sex Offender web site lists his address in Davidsonville, MD.  I am told that he has a sister in Iowa City, Iowa.

Knowing this is a late post ,but i have known the windyboy family for a long time and Sammy isnt welcomed back there in Rocky Boy rez, But where ever he is Im sure he will cont to do the things that he is use of doing ,The family says they dont accept his phone calls either ,he disgraced that whole family ...
