Sheila Gibson AKA Omnec Onec
« on: December 07, 2011, 09:10:04 pm »
This is bizarre: http://www.omnec-onec.com/index_en.html

Somewhere she says she is recognized by NDNs as 'The great white hope'..(This is a translation from the german esowatch page on her). This sounds suspicious.. I'll see what I can dig up

[added actual name]

wow that's pretty loopy!

it appears that she is or was involved with an NRM called Eckankar, at least that's what it says in this video at about 6.40 in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6gEzdNsjV0

Their website is here

http://www.eckankar.org/

It is not really clear whether she is still a part of Eckankar, but my guess would be that she is setting up on her own.

The "projects" page on her website is the most interesting IMO.

She wants to build a spiritual centre.  a grand, magnificent, expensive spiritual centre.  They all do.  I can't see a "donate" button and the small amount of followers on her FB pages suggests that she is just starting out.

One to watch.

ah here we go

the website for the spirchul centre project (in fact more like a mini village)

OK, her website and book publisher is an Eckankar publisher, so she must still be involved with them

Maybe the plan is to use her as a more stylish / Venusian front person than the ordinary looking man who is their current head?

http://www.verlag.li/en

They look like a small NRM but as there are bigger, badder NRMs out there bankrolling smaller ones for various reasons, I think it may be interesting to see how this one develops and who ends up in charge. At this point it's not really possible for an outsider to know what's going on but time will tell.

Eckankar is an outright dangerous cult, the kind that breaks up families, demands money to join and take part, and is widely accused of abusing and coercing members. You can find survivors groups of ex members pretty easily.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EckankarSurvivorsAnonymous/

Seems to be basically pseudo Hinduism repackaged for self help style claims. The leaders all have pseudo Hindu names.

OO is pretty out there, claiming to literally be from Venus. That "Great White Hope" claim made me laugh. The GWH is an old term for hoping that one can find a white who can "take back" a title or area of achievement that is now mostly made up of nonwhites. Once commonly used in boxing, but I've heard of it in other sports and even in politics. It's definitely racist, openly appealing to fear of nonwhites "taking over".

I remember when I was in college in the 70's, I went to an introductory lecture about Eckankar.  I remember (if I can remember that far back) that it was something about traveling to other planets and it was a little too strange for me, so I didn't pursue it.  I also seem to recall that the instructors had that far-off, spaced-out look to them and I didn't want to be around them any more.

$1,500 for a single book?  http://www.amazon.com/Ufo-Venus-Came-Omnec-Onec/dp/0934269106/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1294267236&sr=8-2
If that is not "pay to pray", then what is?  Her website seems very bizarre to me since they have a list of releases, such as meditations, but if you are interested in them, you have to contact them by email, supposedly so they can scope you out.  If you go to the contacts page, it says Omnec Onec had a stroke in 2009 and she does not reply to emails and does not use computers.  Anja Schafer seems to be her spokesperson.  Really, really weird stuff.  If you look at the website carefully, it just seems to be a grab-bag of all the "new age" philosophy, which you hear in some many other places.

Oh dear, I just checked, and they have a local Eckankar group in my area.  Once a month, they have an "ECK Worship Service" and a monthly Open House, where you can browse their selection of books and tapes!

OMG.  Eckankar is total crap.  I may get in trouble for posting a funnny interlude here.  Oh, well...bring it.   I was attending the Nuage Sundance in Texas in 2002.  Its called the Lone Star Sun Dance.  We had tornados on the ground 3rd night.  This fat boy comes screeching by the tent.  "Sing the Hu, Sing the Hu!!!!!!!!!!!! And Chief Bear wants everyone in their cars!!"

so I say......(wait for it)

"WHO THE HELL IS HUGH?!?!!!?!? AND I'll GO GET IN THE DITCH"

Apparently singing the hu not "THE HUGH" will connect you to the earth mother.  It is true.  I heard it from a white man at a nuage Sun Dance in a tornado.

I wonder if she is mentally ill and delusional, or this is all a purposeful con.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGfGuoI4r8Y&feature=plcp She talks pretty fast in this, along with all the other wacky stuff she says that elsewhere there is "one race per planet" and that Venusians have difficulty living here in a "mixed" society.

Her ex-husband identifies as an Eckist and still seems to support her beliefs http://whatnowgrasshopper.blogspot.com/ , he says one of their sons runs the website http://www.omnec-onec.com/index_en.html

Real name is Sheila Gibson. Before all the claims she was just a bar maid and cashier. But I don't think she did it as a scam for money. All of her three chiildren were raised being told that. It's mental illness, very elaborately constructed. Notice how she already has an answer and elaborate conspiracy for a scientist who points out it's all nonsense, claims of a city the size of Chicago on Venus. The illness is being reinforced by UFO audiences and all the other ways money is being made off of the claim, including a book by her ex husband that some followers angrily denounce.

Couldn't find any claims about NDN tribes. She claims to have been at a Tibetan monastery in India. (Tibet is part of China.) Also some other pretty unoriginal nonsense, claims about Atlantis and Lemuria.
