If you ever run into a full-blood/full-time German "hobbyist", then you'll understand the generic Hollywood talk. Hobbyist are official club members who dress up for Indianer encampments and re-enact the lifestyle of the natives during the 1800s. There have been some pow wows that have had a native drum group and some native dancers, but there isn't a decent pow wow trail. Of course if you check out powwow-kalender.de you can see the different countries having pow wows. Most if not all of the German pow wows are club related pow wows. And the others are hobby-interested people. Funny, I think the person who did the video is from Canada. Cree, I believe, but not sure. If you ever hit some Texas pow wows you do see a lot of simple outfits and even beginning dance styles.

And to add to the Indianer myth in promo video, the publicity in German TV and newspaper is more 1800's.....the look is better accepted by the general population. This Winneatu guy is or was popular for many Germans. For the small European pow wow community, they look towards the contemporary pow wow scene that's here in the states and Canada. It seems hard for them to get any major attention from the media though.
