RunningWolf & the Golden Spa
« on: April 25, 2005, 04:14:59 pm »
I'm new - and could not find this in the archives - but has the Golden Door Spa of Carefree AZ come up?  They have a "Mohawk/Hawaiian Shaman" named RunningWolf on staff who does "soul massages" in a tepee... and much, much more.

Oh and did I mention that he is "Dean of Native American Spirtituality" at the College of Metaphysical Studies ....  wow!!

There is an article about him in the March "Cowboys and Indians" His "other" name is Serge Martel -

Not only does he come from "900 years of shamanism" his training was begun by an uncle when he was age 6 on his "familial" reservation. (does this conform with child labor laws??)

At the Spa he offers "soul massages" Labyrinth work, Tai chi, "Native American body work" including turquoise mud body wraps, rainstick rituals, all performed in their 27 foot tepee - that the spa received permission to erect from the local tribes - (I guess that would be the Gila River or Ak-Chin - I'm not sure, but they are located about 30 miles from Phoenix)  -  they state in their advretising that the "local Native Americans "connsulted their ancesteral spirits to ensure a positive energy in and around the tepee.

The tepee is filled with over-stuffed pillows in a circle for the patients to set on and in the middle is a ring of candles and a bowl of clear marbles -

After Runningwolf  takes the people for a "spirit walk" he tell them to "go and walk in beauty"  to close you are served a nice big glass of ice water with a lemon slice floating in it and given a light lunch of watercress sammies....  (I added the sandwitches) -

However - it boggles my mind that people will pay this kind of money for this crap -

His real name is Serge Martel. Photo of him at this link. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/02/travel/02spas.html?ex=1114574400&en=4f0e9b29bb7ea474&ei=5070&ex=1105684640?ex=1114574400&en=4f91ce16f4fbcb44&ei=5070

He claims to be...just about everything. And seems to believe in and sell just about everything.

"His Power Name, "Running Wolf," was given to him by Medicine Men prior to his birth. It was claimed that he carried the name through many past lives. After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Psy-chology, Serge explored many esoteric arts including Zen, Ceremonial Magick, Tarot, Runes, Wicca...skilled in the release of negative energies & has performed exorcisms, cleansings, & healings of persons, businesses, places & homes. He works very well with the subtle energies, using these forces in his healings, manifesting, the bal-ancing & clearing of Chakras & Auras, & in the Blessings & Harmonizing with the many Spirits of Nature. His ritu-als & ceremonies carry tremendous power. Serge holds Master Certification in the Tera Mai & Usui Schools of Reiki, as well as Seichem & Sakara....also an ordained minister & elder in the Golden Eagle Ministries of Arizona....an ordained minister, elder & initiated Shaman, & the direct descendant of over nine hundred years of Shamanism...an adept in the release & clearing of negative & dark energies from people as well as spaces...performs rituals, blessings, cleansings & ceremonies for both homes & businesses.... Along with being an exceptional clairvoyant."

Appears on psychic radio shows.

That "college" will also "certify" you are a "Psychic, Spirit Medium or Past Life/Age Regression Facilitator".
http://www.cms.edu/admin.html
But the funnier part is its "main campus" is really just a suite in one building.
18514 U.S. 19 N, Suite B, Clearwater, FL.
They also have on staff a Bear Tribe woman "named Sweetgrass, who is an elder in the Apache tribe, will teach a class called Sun Bear's Medicine Wheel."

Another franchisee of his, Kim Savino.

And get ready for this:
"He has written and produced a T.V series entitled "Innerquest Magazine - A Video Journal for the New Age" for Warner Communications, and has been interviewed and given readings on several radio talk shows and television productions. Serge was also the former host of "Runningwolf Speaks" on KFNX."

I overlooked before something very obvious. Neither the Iroquois or Hawaiians used tipis. And neither did any local tribes near Phoenix. 30 miles away sounds like Ak Chin, but they once lived in thatched huts with daubed on mud.

Found a pretty funny photo of him speaking at an RV park to the local chapter of "dowsers" and "testing his L-rods." (I swear, I couldn't make that up.)

The supposed Native American "Golden Eagle Ministry" doesn't seem to have a single NDN in it, not even anyone else who claims to be NDN.

Halina Kaciki, a "remote energy healer" who goes on about "angels in fur." (Sounds like an old Lou Reed song.)

"Shannon Horton - Intuitive, Angel Channeling....a clairvoyant, clairaudient, empathic channel who can also use psychometry in order to facilitate a reading or a healing. She is a Reiki Master Teacher and Ordained Minister through Universal Ministries...in the process of becoming and Ordained Minister under the auspices of Golden Eagle Ministries...a certificate in Tui NA (Traditional Chinese Bodywork) and Cranial Unwinding. Shannon is a Spiritual Intuitive...a certificate in Tui NA (Traditional Chinese Bodywork) and Cranial Unwinding."

That last one sounds painful...

We should give a yearly award(s) to the sites that are the most outlandish in their claims and people.   So much is mixed up to form something else.

I noticed that also - I'm sure that if they asked anyone about the tepee they thought - what's that got to do with us - but then they have tepees at Foxwoods too - This tepee has some pretty wild designs painted on it too - a real mix of "Indian" symbols. I also like the 900 year Mohawk Shamanistic tradition &  his being taken at 6 by an uncle to be "trained in this tradition"   Guess he at least can read - and did read Ruth Bee Bee Hill - a little change here - a little change there and Hanta-Mohawk-Aloha - The image of all of the candles and a bowl of marbles is also something else.  Living near the Church Universal Triumphant I thought I'd heard it all - but these guys continue to amaze me.

Lets see, a 900 year old Yoda, type creature. Should have been in the latest "Star Warz" movie.
Sounds like witch-craft to me.
