The "International Sun Dance" sponsored by the World Council of Elders is gearing up for its ninth iteration, this time to be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

To support this pay-to-pray event (I won't call it a ceremony) their website includes several buttons to accept donations through paypal to pay for travel, supplies, etc . . . and participation is by invitation only.

"The Ninth Annual International Sundance will be held August 11-15, 2015 in Manitoba, Canada approximately 45 minutes from Winnipeg.  The International Sundance site, on 40 pristine wooded acres of Anishinabeg traditional land, is home to abundant wildlife, and has previously hosted many ceremonies including sweat lodges, fasting, Full Moon and Sundance.   We’re expecting approximately 200-300 participants, including several indigenous Elders from Guatemala, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Canada, U.S.A., and possibly Africa, Asia and South America, at this year’s International Sundance in Manitoba. . ."

Some info on Woody Vaspra / Lenwood Henry Vaspra, born 1945:

He did serve in military:

Quote

Kamehameha Schools is for Native Hawaiians "and has excluded all but two non-Hawaiians from attending since 1965." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamehameha_Schools

I believe his Hawaiian ancestry is through his mother, Virginia Maile Vaspra:
