British Native Americans?
« on: August 08, 2011, 08:09:14 am »
Does anyone have any info on these folks? They claim to have spent time with the Lakota but I've come across loads of people here who say the same, I once stayed with some Asians, that doesn't make me Asian... Anyone heard of their mentors either, “The journey began when we bumped into fellow believer Grizzly Walking Thunder. He introduced us to our spiritual advisor Adrian Two Crows and it has just grown from there."
"John and Pauline Jerzyszek have transformed themselves — becoming Running Bear and Small Warrior — after running into a fellow believer in the supermarket seven years ago."  :o

Opinions and any info would be good. This is hot news here in the UK right now, anyone have any articles on plastic shamans they want sent off to British newspapers to set the record straight? I bet the papers below have email contacts on their websites for styuff like that.

I've done a little research on these people

Grizzly Walking Thunder and Two Crows are mentioned in this thread

Grizzly Walking Thunder is allegedly a shaman, musician, pipe and drum maker and tattooist.

His UK based website is here
www.walkingthunder.co.uk

According to the review of a 2005 flute workshop in this link

Grizzly donates a percenage of his earnings to Spirit Rising which supports Native American children, families and elders with programs that alleviate the effects of poverty, build communities and promote economic drvelopment and cultural awareness.
Grizzly is also the UK liaison for donations . please email grizzly@walkingthunder.co.uk for instructions
For more info go to www.spirit-rising.org

I took a very quick look at the www.spirit-rising.org website and it appears to be a Quaker outreach / missionary organisation.

The whole thing is deeply racist. Non-Natives wearing costumes based on 1800s romantic fantasies of Hollywood Indians, and mimicking what they think are NDN ceremonies, are not "Indians". They are not "Living as Indians"; they are not "British Indians"; they are racist, pretendian fools.

Friends across the pond are looking into it and we have good reason to believe this pair and their associates may be involved in pay to pray. In the pictures in the news stories they are mimicking ceremonies for the cameras. Opinions of my friends over there are that this pair of pretendians are seeking out all this press coverage so they can pretend to be spokespeople for NDNs, and profit by spreading racist misinformation. The whole thing is disgusting, shameful, and by trying to replace the voices and images of real Native people these non-Natives are perpetuating a form of cultural genocide.
