Happy Thanksgiving

Just want to remind folks that this week end Thanksgiving for the americans.
This holiday has been one of mixed feelings because of the history of my people.
I want to put down my thoughts on this.

All the native people had a harvest celebration at the end of year, were we all came
together before winter came to danced and feast.
We would select spouses for our children, plan for the winter, share songs, dances and goods.
For us life has always been the same we still celebrate the harvest at the end of the year.
So with that I wish everyone a great winter, stay warm, be prepared, remember each other
thought the winter, I am thankfull for each person on this site and for the help to protect and
preserve our spiritual and cultural life.

Happy Harvest Festival and winter warmth to you and your loved ones, LaDonna. And to all the good people who contribute to this site and community. I am also grateful to have you in my life.

Here in Massachusetts, "Thanksgiving" is also a day of mourning and protest. As the place where the "first Thanksgiving" was celebrated by invaders (as a victory feast for having slaughtered Indigenous people) we still have a lot of work to do around awareness and justice. The non-Natives here who are politically progressive and radical are generally aware of the vile history of the "Pilgrims and Indians" fantasy.  But there are still mainstream people who want to act out the racist fantasies common to the holiday. It can be a busy and stressful time of year for the people from local tribes.

But even those of us who protest are glad for the time off work to gather with loved ones. Best wishes to everyone, and yes, stay warm :-)
