Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe (NEETRibe)
« on: February 25, 2007, 03:06:13 pm »
http://www.neetribe.org/
"We are affiliated with The Southern Cherokee Nation which is The Southern Band of The Cherokee Nation (14 Stat 799 dtd 29 July 1866). The United States Government recognized SCN as a Band of the Cherokee Nation with separate rights and Jurisdictions as provided by the Congressional Treaty Document at Running Water, Georgia on November 27th 1834, ratified by Congress,  recognizing SCN as a Sovereign Cherokee Nation. Most of our tribal citizens of The Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe are descendants of Chief Donnaha....
Our name, Nuluti Equani Ehi, is Cherokee and means "Near the River Dwellers."  Citizenship is available to anyone who wishes to learn and honor their Native American heritage.  We base Citizenship on Native American origin and will accept anyone, who thru genealogy, can prove any Native American Blood Heritage."

That's the Webber Falls, OK outfit.

"Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe, Inc.
       3517 Union Hill Rd.
     East Bend, N.C. 27018
....On February 6th 2004 our paperwork was submitted to the Secretary of State for status as a Non Profit Tribe, we also received our EIN number with in a few days of that. We are a Non profit tribe, we created under the ideas of Religious, Charitable and Educational Tribe. So how are we accomplishing these goals as of today.  I am pleased to share what we feel will please you.  But bear in mind this takes financial support to keep the tribe up and running as well as progressing.
What has Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe Done at this so far:
The following Societies are functioning or will be as soon as People and Funding are available:
Volunteer Outreach Services, Tribal Web site www.neetribe.org, Emergency Loan Society, Crafts and Pow Wow Society, Corporate Support & Funding Society, Student Loan Society, Veterans Assistant, Program, Historical Preservation Society, Emergency Grant Society, Talking Feather Society, Wolf Creek Support Society
There are  programs being developed for future activation.  All projects have been funded though tribal donations and membership contributions.  We need your help in work time, financial assistance and recruiting of prospective members.
Jim Wilson
Principal Chief
Jim@neetribe.org"

From what I see so far, they have a website and a powwow, that's it.

"Our tribal heritage goes back to the Cherokee living along the New River, Yadkin River, Dan River, and the Catawba rivers in North Carolina during the pre-colonial and colonial periods.  A number of our founding Leaders are descendants of the Chief Donnaha and are carded by The Southern Cherokee Nation, Southern Band of the Cherokee....NEETribe has applied to the NC Commission of Indian Affairs for recognition."

They don't seem to want federal recognition, probably because as they admit elsewhere they've only been around a short time. Yet elsewhere they're falsely claiming BIA recog.

"For all you Chief Donahoo researchers, I have exciting news for you. June 21-24 in Clemmons, North Carolina, the Poindexter Descendants Association is holding its Annual Family Reunion....
In addition, the Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe will be at our reunion. They are a BIA recognized tribe which has a number of Elizabeth and Frank Pledge's descendants as members."

UPDATE on these guys:  Several people have filed formal complaints for being scammed by this "Tribe".  They are a 501(c)(3) corporation, NOT a legitimate Native American Tribe.  The "Chief" Jim Wilson has been caught pocketing monies earmarked for their non-existent societies (they say they're in place, but none of them are actually working societies).  He is a sociopath.  Authorities have said they use cult-like practices to entice new memberships.   He has claimed to be both a Shaman and a Medicine Man.  Basically, he is a con-man.  He has publicly been disrespectful toward women.  He claims to be Cherokee/Delaware, but his Native heritage is highly questionable.  The Eastern Band of Cherokee as well as other legitimate tribes are very angry with their abuse of Native American culture for monetary purposes and it is purported that they are taking actions to get them shut down.  He also gets off on the notoriety when anyone tries to expose him.

Sounds more like Melungeon territory than Cherokee. Cherokees didn't live on the Catawba River because the Catawbas did. The area between the Catawba and  the French Broad was a buffer zone between the Cherokees and Catawbas. The Southern Cherokee claim has serious deficiencies and used to be ran out of someones living room, not sure whose doing it now but i have met some of these folks.

Jim Wilson was a "member of the month" on the http://nativeamericanpeoples.ning.com/ site, photo and bio is from there:

Quote
Chief Jim Wilson is Principal Chief of the Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe (Near River Dwellers).  He is also Cherokee, Delaware and Lakota.  He lives in East Bend, North Carolina.

Chief Jim has been a member of NAP since August of 2010.  Chief Jim has been a teacher on NAP since joining NAP, as well as an Administrator.  He has become a treasured friend to everyone and is one of the most valued members of NAP.

Chief Jim teaches in children's classrooms through out the Winston-Salem, NC, area, and in local colleges.  He also teaches Sunday School.  His favorite saying is, "Baby Steps" while teaching his classes.

Chief Jim is a powwow organizer holding powwows in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.

Chief Jim has written a three volume history of the Nuluti Equani Ehi Tribe, titled "Our People - Our Story" available now.  Orders can be made through him.

Chief Jim is a highly decorated Viet Nam Veteran.  Serving in the US Army Special Forces during three tours in Viet Nam as an officer.

I wonder if this may be a Stolen Valor issue.

I am looking at a death Cert. for a William Walter Wilson Born in the Nutbush cummunity in North carolina in Feb 1, 1863 I do not know if this is one you are looking for. What I do know is he is my Grandfather. and I am haveing a lot of troble tracing his line. His wife was a Drucillia Wilson Gill Wilson they were farmaers in Granville County somwhere near middleburg, NC. His father name is only given as William Wilson married to an Elizabeth Staum or something like that I am unable to make out last name.

http://genforum.genealogy.com/wilson/messages/28725.html

So in 2009 Jim Wilson still did not know his paternal Wilson lineage, and he doesn't look to be skilled at genealogical research.

What is "full blood adopted Cherokee"?

William and Elizabeth Wilson are listed as a white farming family in the 1880 US federal census Nutbush, Warren, North Carolina. William and both his parents born Virginia. Elizabeth and both her parents born North Carolina.

NULUTI EQUANI EHI TRIBE INC. https://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=6191009

Some fraud groups ask that people submit birth certificates along with other family history details as part of their membership citizenship applications. Hopefully no one is giving this group their birth certificates.

I checked out samples of his books.  If you read through....particularly this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Our-People-Story-Volume-Two/dp/0615752845/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1361237083&sr=8-4&keywords=native+american+book+by+chief+jim+wilson#reader_0615752845

It explains a lot of the insults of "paganism" etc.

Basically, Jim's line of thinking goes along the line of folks who talk about the "Cherokee/Jewish connection" and makes some fantastic claims.

There's a lot to read through, but a few passages that begin at the bottom of page 372 have a familiar ring to it.  (can't copy and paste the sample unfortunately).

But to sum it up...in Jim Wilson's World, Cherokees are descendent from Alqonquin remnants who migrated into the area and possess an ancient knowledge of Abrahamic beliefs that predates the Christian bible....(give or take)

Superdog thanks for pointing out that we can dig around in the samples of his book.

"Chief Jim Wilson" either plagiarized the work of "Chief Charles Jahtlohi Rogers, M.D." or they are the same person. The following passages are in both Wilson's Our People - Our Story: Volume Two page 373 and on this Roger's website:

Quote
Paganism is when people worship processes instead of the Creator, God Himself. Pagan means someone who is ignorant of God. The Cherokees never gave special adoration or worship to any images, dead men, evil spirits, extraterrestrial luminaries or any human-created being or personage. A body would be buried before the sun went down, time permitting.

First, detractors from other Native American tribes, then the European Westerners, tended to believe the myth that the religion of the Cherokee Indians was no more than primitive emotion and pagan tradition. Conflict came because time and time again the Cherokee people believed completely in protecting their land, their people and their mono deity beliefs. These ancient Cherokee religious beliefs were at the very heart of the Cherokee Nation. They bowed to no man nor kissed no idol, for they believed this was God’s direct instruction.

http://www.cherokeediscovery.com/ancientbeliefs.html

The whole "I will tell you a true thing! Cherokee Religion" part of Wilson's book is also here http://www.cherokeediscovery.com/religion.html

I clipped out the photo of "Charles Jahtlohi Rogers M.D. Traditional Chief and Ugu Cherokee Nation of Mexico" , along with that recent photo of Jim Wilson, is this the same guy?

More "Chief Charles Jahtlohi Rogers" images for comparison

Update: these look to be two different people. There is a Charles L Jahtlohi Rogers who claims he has a Rogers Cancer Institute in Acapulco Mexico. He has Facebook pages and http://doctorofhope.com/
