Born Jacob Anthony Angeli Chansley c. 1988 (age 32–33)

I find it very strange that everywhere I looked, he is listed as "born circa 1988". With the enormous public interest this man has aroused, why hasn't his birth date been found out?

Also, in some of the Wikipedia articles, and many other places, he is referred to not only as a 'conspiracy theorist', but also as a 'far-right activist'. Why is this term omitted in the linked Wikipedia article? For an example, check Fact #2 on this page:

Can't make these up.

The “QAnon Shaman,” as Jacob Chansley has come to be known since the January 6 Capitol riot, has said he no longer wants to be associated with the QAnon movement.

Mr Chansley pleaded guilty on Friday to felony obstruction of Congress in the Capitol riot, and faces at least three years in prison.

Attending the insurrection bare-chested, while sporting face paint and a large horned fur hat, Mr Chansley cut a notable figure on the day. Images of him inside the Capitol circulated widely in the press and on social media during the aftermath of the riot.

The ??self-described QAnon conspiracy follower, who has also gone by the name of Jake Angeli, was photographed holding a 6ft spear with the American flag tied to it in the Senate chamber, while chanting, shouting, and calling the former Vice President Mike Pence a “traitor.”

He admitted leaving a note saying: “It’s Only A Matter of Time. Justice Is Coming!” on the vice president’s presiding desk.

Ahead of Friday’s hearing, Mr Chansley’s lawyer, Albert Watkins, released a statement to the Huffington Post in which he said Mr Chansley “repudiates the ‘Q’ moniker” and no longer wanted to be associated with “Q.”

Mr Chansley, Mr Watkins wrote, was a “long avowed and practicing Shaman,” but he had “repudiated the ‘Q’ previously assigned to him and requests future references to him be devoid of use of the letter ‘Q.’

According to FBI reports, Mr Chansley was one of more than 20 self-identified QAnon adherents to be arrested at the riot.

The U.S. Capitol rioter nicknamed the "QAnon Shaman" is disappointed former President Donald Trump did not pardon him, his defense lawyer said on Friday after the man pleaded guilty to taking part in the Jan. 6 unrest.

Jacob Chansley, of Phoenix, Arizona, was photographed inside the Capitol shirtless, wearing a horned headdress and heavily tattooed. He has been held without bond since his arrest shortly after the riot, and on Friday entered a guilty plea to obstructing an official proceeding.

While in detention, Chansley underwent mental examinations and was diagnosed by prison officials with transient schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety.

Nearly 600 people have been arrested over the attack on the Capitol where Congress was meeting to certify Joe Biden's November victory over Trump. Earlier Trump had given a fiery speech falsely claiming his defeat was the result of fraud.

While the felony charge Chansley pleaded guilty to carries both a maximum 20-year prison term and a fine of up to $250,000, prosecutor Kimberly Paschall indicated the maximum sentence the government was likely to request would be much shorter.

Chansley had been a supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory that casts Trump as a savior figure and elite Democrats as a cabal of Satanist pedophiles and cannibals.

Although he did not get a pardon from Trump, Chansley's defense lawyer Albert Watkins said "there will always be a soft spot" for Trump in Chansley's heart.

At Friday's plea hearing, Watkins asked Judge Royce Lamberth to allow Chansley to be released from prison pending a sentencing hearing, scheduled for Nov. 17. The judge said he would consider this request.

Watkins noted that prosecutors had acknowledged Chansley was "not a planner or organizer" of the riot. Watkins later told reporters that Chansley had cooperated with Jan. 6 investigations and informed on a group he saw stealing classified materials from a Senate office.

The lawyer for Jacob “QAnon Shaman” Chansley says his client felt an attraction to former President Donald Trump akin to that of a first love.

Al Watkins made the bizarre claim at a news conference after Mr Chansley pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday to obstruction of justice for his role in the January 6 insurrection.

“He had a fondness for Trump that was not unlike the first love a man may have for a girl, or a girl for a man, or man for a man,” Mr Watkins said. “The first love always, always maintains a tender and soft spot in the heart of the lover.”

With his bellowing voice, viking-like horns, fur headdress and tattooed, shirtless frame, Chansley became the best-known of the thousands of insurrectionists who stormed the US Capitol to protest the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

Since his arrest shortly after the riots, he has been held without bail.

Mr Watkins also argued that Chansley has experienced mental health problems and had been “seduced” by Mr Trump.

“Today Jake made a monumental step toward doing right by our nation,” Mr Watkins said at Friday’s news conference.

Speaking about the “lovers” statement on CNN, anchor Jim Acosta asked: “We can’t blame all of this on love, can we? What a bizarre comment.”

“This is sad that people who believed in Donald Trump are now going to pay a very personal cost, as they should,” former Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock replied. “These were criminal actions on January 6th.”....

'QAnon Shaman' Jacob Chansley, A Capitol Riot 'Flag-Bearer,' Sentenced To Prison
Jacob Chansley, whom prosecutors called “the public face of the Capitol riot,” received one of the harshest sentences of any Jan. 6 defendant to date.

Jacob Chansley received one of the harshest sentences so far in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Jacob Chansley, the man federal prosecutors called “the public face of the Capitol riot,” was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison on Wednesday, one of the longest sentences handed down so far in connection with the events of Jan. 6.

Chansley, a 34-year-old Donald Trump supporter who was known as the “QAnon Shaman” and wore a viking hat with fur and horns and carried a spear bearing an American flag when he stormed the Capitol, was sentenced by Judge Royce C. Lamberth. Last week, Lamberth sentenced a New Jersey man who assaulted an officer outside of the Capitol on Jan. 6 to 41 months in federal prison.

“If the defendant had been peaceful on that day, your honor, we would not be here,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Paschall told Lamberth on Wednesday.

“‘Times up, motherfuckers’ is not peaceful, your honor,” Paschall said, referencing what Chansley yelled in the Senate chamber. “That’s chilling.” She noted the letter Chansley left on Vice President Mike Pence’s desk ? which said, “It’s only a matter of time. Justice is coming.” ? was “not peaceful.” She called the note “a threat.”

Paschall said that while Chansley did not assault police that day, the judge should note the tenor of Jan. 6 and read the threatening note in that context. She also noted that Chansley called Pence “a fucking traitor” from the dais in the Senate.

“None of what happened on Jan. 6, 2021, was peaceful,” Paschall said, adding Chansley engaged in “obstructionist activities” that day. She asked the court to send a message to the “flag-bearer” of Jan. 6 and any other people, regardless of their political beliefs, that there are consequences for trying to obstruct American democracy.

Lamberth said what Chansley did was “horrific” and “terrible,” and that while he believed Chansley had indeed changed and was apologetic, that he would not depart from the sentencing guidelines (which suggested a minimum of 41 months) because of the “serious nature of the crime itself.”

Chansley, who pleaded guilty in September to a felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding, was among the first 30 rioters to breach the Capitol on Jan. 6 and faced off with police officers outside the Senate chamber as senators scrambled to safety.

Speaking before Lamberth just before he was sentenced, Chansley thanked the judge for moving him to another jail where he could get an organic diet.

“I believe in freedom with all my heart and soul,” Chansley said. “But I also believe in law and order, because without law and order you can’t have freedom.”

Chansley said he came to understand why Lamberth kept him locked up pretrial, and said that “men of honor” admit when they’re wrong.

“I was in solitary confinement because of me, because of my decision. I broke the law, and if I believe in freedom, if I believe in law and order ... I should take responsibility,” Chansley said. “I needed the time to reevaluate.”

Chansley said he came to realize he was wrong for entering the Capitol, but said he was not “an insurrectionist” or “a domestic terrorist,” just “a good man who broke the law.” Chansley said he would “do everything differently” if he could go back and relive Jan. 6.

Minutes later, Chansley made his way inside the gallery of the U.S. Senate, where he yelled “time’s up motherfuckers” as other rioters rifled through senators’ desks in the chamber below. He eventually made his way to the floor of the Senate, where he took the seat that had been occupied by then-Vice President Mike Pence. Chansley called Pence “a fucking traitor” and left his letter on the desk.

Chansley’s attorney, Al Watkins, said in September that his client “REPUDIATES THE ‘Q’ MONIKER” and no longer wanted to be known as the QAnon Shaman and had started to move away from his belief in the QAnon conspiracy theory.

“Have I witnessed this traversing of a path away from QAnon by Jacob? Absolutely. Has he extricated himself such that his boots don’t smell of QAnon? No. No, it’s still there,” Watkins said. “And it’s going to take time.”

On Wednesday, Watkins said the court was in a “remarkably unique position” both to both hand out justice and to help bridge the political divide by showing mercy on Chansley.

“He is accountable, and wants to be held accountable,” Watkins said.

The government asked for a sentence of 51 months in federal prison, saying his criminal acts had “made him the public face of the Capitol riot.”

“Armed with a six-foot long spear, the defendant brazenly marched past dozens of law enforcement officers, with rioters throwing debris of all kind at those who opposed them, past broken windows and through doors ringing with alarm bells,” federal prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo. “The defendant was among the first 30 rioters to penetrate the U.S. Capitol building. The defendant then stalked the hallowed halls of the building, riling up other members of the mob with his screaming obscenities about our nation’s lawmakers, and flouting the ‘opportunity’ to rid our government of those he has long considered to be traitors.”

The Justice Department told Judge Lamberth that it was “important to convey to future rioters and would-be mob participants ? especially those who intend to improperly influence the democratic process ? that their actions will have consequences.”

The damage from Jan. 6, the DOJ argued, “will last far longer than the hours’ delay” in the certification of the results of the presidential election.

“The world watched the actions of this defendant and others on January 6, 2021 shake one of the foundations of our democracy ? the peaceful transfer of power after free and fair elections ? and has made us all question the safety and security of the country in which we live,” they wrote. “Those enormous harms, borne out of the acts of this defendant, must be deterred so that we never see a similar assault on our democracy again.”

Chansley’s attorney argued in a sentencing memo that his client has “mental health vulnerabilities” and showed “apparent Forest Gump-like obliviousness too much of the activity and many of the actions of those surrounding him as he approached, entered, and traversed the Capitol.” Chansley’s father was incarcerated for the “lion’s share” of Chansley’s life, and his stepfather ? who Chansley’s lawyer said imposed “extraordinary physical and mental abuse” on his client ? died by suicide in 2013. Chansley’s lawyer said his client has now been diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder, anxiety, and depression.

“Patience and compassion represent the only course that is medically appropriate, ethically appropriate, and legally appropriate,” Watkins wrote, asking the court to sentence his client to time served. “It is time for the Shaman to start on his journey to freedom ? not from jail, but from mental health infirmities of significance. It is time for Mr. Chansley to commence his journey from within.”

The 'QAnon Shaman' and other Capitol rioters who regret pleading guilty
By Mike Wendling BBC News

A growing number of Capitol rioters have gone back on their guilty pleas and apologies - including one of the most recognisable faces from 6 January.

Standing in court, Jacob Angeli Chansley, known as Jake Angeli, seemed like a changed man.

Shorn of the horned headdress, furs and face paint that helped earn him the nickname the QAnon Shaman, he was pleading guilty to obstructing an official proceeding. The charge stemmed from his part interrupting a joint session of Congress, and carried a maximum prison term of 20 years.

"I am truly, truly repentant for my actions, because repentance is not just saying you're sorry," he said. "Repentance is apologising and then moving in the exact opposite direction of the sin that you committed.

"In retrospect, I would do everything differently on January 6th."

A judge called his apology "the most remarkable I've heard in 34 years" and sentenced him to 41 months in prison - considerably less than the maximum allowed.

Now more than a year-and-a-half later, Angeli is out of jail early, and his remorse is gone.

"Regrets only weigh down the mind," he told the BBC. "They're like sandbags on a hot air balloon."

His about-face is such that he is even taking his case back to court to ask his guilty plea to be reversed. And he is far from the alone in changing his mind about the events at the Capitol.

The terrorist is now delusional enough to want to be a congressman.

'QAnon Shaman' Jacob Chansley, who served more than 2 years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on Congress, now wants to run for Congress
Katie Balevic Nov 12, 2023, 9:46 AM EST

Jacob Chansley would like to return to the scene of his crime. Chansley rose to American infamy as the "QAnon shaman," becoming the face of the January 6, 2021 seige on the US Capitol, which sent congressional lawmakers scrambling in fear for the exits.

Now he thinks he might like to work in the building he attacked. Chansley is considering running for a US Congress seat in the 2024 election, representing his home state of Arizona. He recently filed his initial paperwork with Arizona's Secretary of State's Office, indicating that he planned to run as a Libertarian for the state's 8th congressional District, The Arizona Republic reported.

Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko now holds the seat for the district, which is made up of suburbs surrounding Phoenix. Lesko recently announced she would retire in January instead of seeking reelection in 2024. So, the race is now on for her seat. Notable candidates thus far include Blake Masters, who failed to cinch a seat in the Senate in 2022, and Abe Hamadeh, who lost his race to be Arizona's attorney general the same year.

One of the first rioters to breach the Capitol, Chansley issued an apology after pleading guilty to his crimes. He served 27 months behind bars in a 41-month sentence. Once released, he suggested that he wanted to reverse his guilty plea. Though as a convicted felon he can't vote, that doesn't prevent him from running for office.

....The TV personality also attracted attention for a photo she posted of herself posing alongside Jacob Chansley, also known as QAnon Shaman, who became one of the most prominent figures in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Responding to the photo—which Barr captioned "New couple alert!!"—a detractor wrote: "Roseanne Barr solidifies her place as a disgusting person in history and will not be remembered for her c***** jokes, but will be remembered for her downward spiral and how she stood on the wrong side of American history."

"Thanks hun!" Barr hit back in a tongue-in-cheek response.
