Jeannie Hubert- Carrier of Ojibway Water Rites
« on: March 26, 2006, 04:00:12 pm »
This is a woman here in IL and the quad-cities(Iowa) That is making the rounds as the carrier of Ojibway water rites. She is in the circuit at this time, preforming this "secret sacred ceremony"
I am familiar with the water ritual, and any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
She also runs the New Windsor pow wow in IL.
Her claims are she is Cherokee, but was taught by a Ojibway elder.

HMMMM? I have heard of the water passing but not an actual ceramonies???? So are you saying she is Ojibway.

It is my understanding that the Ojibway keep all there ceramonies within the Ojibway Nation, these things are only taught within the tribe only. I have never heard of a ojibway Carrier of Ojibway water rites. Most surely another wannabe.

She says she is Cherokee ( how convenient).
I do believe she is using this ceremony to entice more people to come to her pow wow, which is not a traditional native ran or a non for profit, it is a Jeanie Hubert fund ( I need new furniture, my husband needs a new Harley).
I have heard people ? calling her a "medicine woman" and that she doctors them.
