WOLF'S HEART LODGE DAUGHTERS/SONS OF THE EARTH
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:13:15 am »
This site was recently pointed out to me:

http://www.orgsites.com/fl/drumming/

So I looked it over....and after some shock and amazement I sent a message to these people just to ask if 'any' of them were actually enrolled in any particular tribe...as with all due respect....these people look whiter than white, and as dodgey as they come... and I would like to presume there are at least some real ndn's teaching the ways of our people....here's my reply:

We are mostly mixed... red/white or red/black. A few of us are full or at least registered. We are a local Tampa Bay group that has been meeting for about 15 years. Our Elders are trained to teach and we are just walking our Paths in as much as an honest, community way that we can.
One two-legged to another.

Any opinions here? I know what mine is...and it's pretty much not fit to be posted here in all honesty after going through the site/photographs etc....but Im interested to see if anyone has had any dealings with this group or know anything more.

With respect,

Tsissy

Flordia ranks up there with Tennessee for groups. I always find it interesting to see a Cherokee/Choctaw Elder giving past-life reading on the telephone. All done on a sliding scale, according to income. $30 for 30 minutes. They hit all the Nations, even have the Zia on the post. The Zia Pueblo make New Mexico take it off their license plates as it is a religious symbol. But they probably don't know that. Looks more like a social group than a Tribe.

This group has good intentions, but never knew any of them to be registered or enrolled in any Tribe.  They have what is called "Drumming Circles"...everyone pounding away on drums in a frenzy (men and women), its comical to watch.  Their site is peppered with NDN sayings and NDN sounding wording and many refer to "Cherokee" descendancy.....but none know their language or their ways and IF there is anything they might know of it, then they interpret it as THEY want it to be.......there are bonafide NDN's in Tampa who view these characters as being ridiculous in their antics to play NDN.....There is even a FM Radio station (88.5) that is supposed to have a NDN program, but the ones involved in it are not Indian's and although they may play some Pow wow songs for its listeners, they dont have the slightest clue to NDN ways.....again, none are enrolled NDN's......I know that some of these folks are misrepresenting NDN culture when schools or learning institutions use them to teach younger students about NDN people......I believe they may even be getting paid for it, or donations of some sort may be involved.....they refer to their Elders, but again none of them are enrolled in a Tribe (and the law states "there can be no tribe without indians") Their supposed Elders (Grandma Mechi and June Two Shivers Perry) may have good intentions, but could never be afforded True Respect by True NDN people as True NDN people Respect their elders.
For True NDN people can easily see through the facade they present......

The leader of this group is Patricia Garza AKA Mechi Garza. She's clearly a fraud and been discussed before.

http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=68892cccb7ece60bca6b6daeb719e623&topic=603.0

The site says Linda Holtz began the group, but it seems pretty strongly under Garza's control now. Her ceremony selling and workshops are all over the site.

Elsewhere on the site they promote Jamie Samms and David Carson, plus the phony Rainbow Warriors "prophecy".

The rest of the group seem to be very naive and lost PODIAs. Susan "Redhawk" Travis, for example, shows up on a forum talking about being adopted and assuming her father was NDN because he appeared to have dark skin in photos and there were other photos of him with what she thought were NDN women.

Later on she claimed to be different tribes, but joined a wannabe "Metis" group, OMAA, which sold dubious membership cards they claim would give you hunting and fishing rights.

OMAA  Woodland Metis Card Scam ties back to Oliver Collins,Norbert Johnson and Pat Holley whom of which were Associated to Oliver Collins and his bogus Tallige Cherokee Group.
I checked the GTECI wesite while back { Georgia Tribe Eastern Band Cherokee Indians } They had a warning about this card scam and a forged mohawk council letter head. Upon Contacting GTECI, the same exact copy of the forged letter head in the

From what I understand now Pat Holley is trying to take to court all the above names over this issue , but I have not heard anything more about this. And since them GTECI has taken down that warning page.

Tansi;

As I have said, in an earlier thread, the "Ontario Metis Aboriginal Association," OMAA is not a group recognized or included in the Metis National Council, in Canada.  This was one group which was formed when Metis people had our rights to gather and hunt formally recognized in the courts in Canada.

I was born Metis and have never had to pay an annual fee in order to face the challenges of living Metis.  My membership in Metis organizations, such as Keyano Local #5, which is part of the Metis Nation Saskatchewan, a provincial organization of the Metis National Council, is based solely on my heritage as a Metis person, proven by geneology.

If my memory serves me correct , this group was applying for a not for profit status in which they
Quote
"could keep the traditions and culture alive"

The most colorful member I have encountered in that group is Sue "redhawk" Travis , what a memory she has etched in my mind! LOL.

Some of the names from the Sons/ Daughters of the Earth website show up at an event done at a local community college in Tampa, Florida in November, 2008.  Some of them were involved in an Inter-Tribal Native American Art Exhibit there for Native American Heritage Month.  Linda Brassell, Grandmother June Perry, Kay Welsh, Denise Taylor, and Yona aka Charles Yona Galohisdi  all show up on the website.  And I believe that most if not all of the people listed above are not enrolled in any particular legitimate tribe, nor are descendant of tribal members of any Federally Recognized Tribe, nor are from an Indian community.  Ric Bird however is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and is on a powwow drum.  I’m not sure about the others.  I think that it is highly inappropriate to have non-natives representing Native Culture at a public institution.

Here, Yona wrote a book on Native American stories and prayer teachings.
