Hello, my name is Lacrima and I heard about this site from a discussion on Tribe.net. I am an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe (The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria). I am Southern Pomo from Northern California, was born in the Sebastopol CA area, living in Portland OR for the past three years. Our tribe was recently granted "federally recognized" status (in 2000) after being "terminated" in 1956. We were able to get our "status" back because most of the folks in the tribe remained on the rolls and continued to live in the area even after "termination".
I am here because I am interested in what people have to say about the topic of cultural appropriation. Our area of CA (Sonoma County), is a real magnet for the crystal wielding types. I hope to listen and learn from you all.
