I have had a few runins with members of secci .Some of which was good ,some not so good.
Just wondering what other peoples opinion on them was or is.....I will save my opinion for later

I looked at the site and apparently there has been some problems as of late. They are a not -for profit but it is educational non-profit. They are not State or Federal recognized, they sate Council as part of thier title but in most of the readings they refer they state Tribal.

Also a fee for membership with a photo ID and asking for last 4 digits of SS#, there is also dues for thier Talking leaves. Noted addreses in different states so that leads me to believe perhaps this is another internet "tribe", the by laws was very interesting . I found some of the teachings to be incorrect. My opinion is STAY away from ALL these Internet "tribes".

I have heard some say there are those that belong to this and also State Tribes in Alabama. I don't think you are suppose to do this. A lot of these non-profits go for the educational so they can obtain grants.  There was someone not long ago from Flordia that belong to this group. But will have to see if I can find it. frederica

Couldn't find the gentleman's name from Flordia that has ties to this group. Member of their Warrior Society. But I do remember fellow from Arkansas named Walking Bear that had ties to them, as was a member. That was few years ago. He was with the Amonsoquath Group in Missouri. Had the claim that Cherokee Spirituality was really Alogonquian. At least according to him and Garrett. That says a lot. frederica

They are always having problems of somesort.Alot of backstabbing among members.Alot of the time it has to do with money.There "tribal grounds " are on cheif panters private property was talks for awhile of buying lank to make the grounds bigger but if they got the new land it was going to go into panters name.There has been members turn there cards in and requested to no longer be members but are still listed.there are a few people that have crossed over and still listed as ative members.Ihave talked to people that was secci all the way but couldnt stand some of the officers and voted against them but when the results were in all the votes were unanimous.And real good for name dropping weather they know them or not,just as long as they can make themselfs looks better

Here is the guy I couldn't think of. He is in the Warrior society of the SECCI also. Name is Bill Rainwater Barnes, Hollywood Fla. Had a film made about him as being a Traditional Medicine Man last year some time by an independent film maker. But have never seen it or know if it has been actually released. He sells crafts, his wife makes Indian Barbie dolls. http://www.ewebtribe.com/Rainwater/  We were trying to find if he was actually enrolled in any of the State tribes, but could only come up with the SECCI and they are not recognized. I wonder about the "Warrior Society", as is if the same as the one Manataka has. frederica

SECCI, is spread out they have "bands" in just about every state,of which some bands no longer are around but are still listed and still showing members for them.

Cherokees of Lawrence County is Joe "Sitting Owl" White. They are pushing hard for recognition, for a while on their own. This is another group with some interesting beliefs, the website is mild.  I believe they were doing DNA for a while in the past. The State of TN has apparently decided to go with the Federal Recognition Criteria for recognition. It will be interesting to see how many actually qualify. frederica

The only other one I know of on the internet is with the BIA. The petitions go through Feb 2006.  http://indianaffairs.gov     Then go to Office of Federal Acknowledgement. Otherwise you have to talk to them. I think the SECII is on the list.  frederica
