Bryant Holman, owner of the curandero yahoo list was a friend of mine, and he was a member of this group. I have joined so as to honor his memory in some small way. His spirit will understand why.
I am a practitioner of the Pennsylvania German healing tradition called "powwow" or more properly "braucherei". I was trained in a traditional manner, and I have a great interest in all genuine folk traditions, both European and Indigenous.
Bryant was an inspiration to me, because he demonstrated that even as one outside of the 'tribe' he loved best, he was able to make a stand for traditional practices (in his case, Mexican curanderismo). He showed me that this effort could be duplicated in regard to any cultural, tribal, or ethnic spiritual tradition. The man was a great stumbling block for plastic shamans and new agers would would wander onto his curanderismo forum.
