Hello, my name is Jen and I came to this forum through my research. I'm writing an article about wilderness survival schools and the commodification of nature and culture. In writing a section on cultural appropriation and plastic medicine men I stumbled upon NAFPS. As I've noticed from reading some of the posts, this community is well aware of the use and stereotyping of Native cultures in wilderness survival courses. It's been lovely to read your comments. I hope you don't mind me hanging around your forum and learning what I can.
On a personal note, I consider this site to be a great find. How do I say this...it's a great reminder that mythologizing people and stealing their cultures is a crappy thing to do. You don't hear that a lot around these parts. Thanks for sharing your viewpoints and thanks for having me.
