The Women’s Sundance was initiated by Beverly Little Thunder over thirty-five years ago as a ceremony of strength and empowerment generated by women. It is a ceremony representing life and rebirth, celebrated once a year, in July. The focus of Sundance is prayer: Healing for Mother Earth and all of humanity.
Women’s Sundance was founded according to a vision given to Beverly Little Thunder, who still anchors the Sundance Ceremony, with the help of her daughter, Lushanya Echeverria, and other members of the organization. Beverly is a Lakota woman, trained more than 35 years ago as a Lakota Sundance leader in the traditional Sundance community, and has been the leader of Women’s Sundance for over 20 years."

It is a treat and pleasure to have this wisdom, energy, humor & fire of this elder that has been a sundancer for over 35 years and pipe carrier. Her daughter Lushanya Echeverria has been a water pourer for the past 10 years and more."
