"Lushanya has been engaged with Lakota tradition since age four when she began her spiritual practice as a Sundancer. Lushanya now leads the Women’s Sundance and is the Executive Director of Kunsi Keya Tamakoce, a nonprofit 501c3 founded in 2005 to further the work of sharing traditional teachings and sacred ceremonies of the Lakota people. She travels widely to share sweat lodge ceremonies, speak and share stories of her traditions and work. Lushanya provides and understanding of different Native American cultures today and historically from the perspective of a modern Native American woman."

She is the daughter of Beverly Little Thunder who we have a thread on http://www.newagefraud.org/smf/index.php?topic=1209.0-

"Sundance is a traditional ceremony sacred to the Lakota people.  The Women’s Sundance was initiated by Beverly Little Thunder over thirty-five years ago as a ceremony of strength and empowerment generated by women.  It is a ceremony representing life and rebirth, celebrated once a year, in July.  The focus of Sundance is prayer:  Healing for Mother Earth and all of humanity.

Women’s Sundance was founded according to a vision given to Beverly Little Thunder, who still anchors the Sundance Ceremony, with the help of her daughter, Lushanya Echeverria, and other members of the organization.  Beverly is a Lakota woman, trained more than 35 years ago as a Lakota Sundance leader in the traditional Sundance community, and has been the leader of Women’s Sundance for over 20 years."

"Beverly Little Thunder, who is a fierce indigenous Lakota Two Spirit Elder, & Lushanya Echeverria will pour water for this sweat lodge for Casa.  It is a treat and pleasure to have this wisdom, energy, humor & fire of this elder that has been a sundancer for over 35 years and pipe carrier.  Her daughter Lushanya Echeverria has been a water pourer for the past 10 years and more."

Our Mission ...

Kunsi Keya Tamakoce is dedicated to sharing the traditional teachings and sacred ceremonies of the Lakota people with women, children, and men, in order to support the health and well-being of the earth and all who live here. Kunsi Keya Tamakoce uses the Lakota model of community building which cultivates a deep connection to the earth, empowers women to reclaim their role as wise leaders and creates a framework for future generations to realize the importance of living in harmony with the natural world.

We have formed a 501(C)(3) for those who wish to make a charitable and tax deductible donation toward this important work.  Please consider helping our group make this vision a reality.  It is time for Native Wimmin to have their land back and have the space to honor the ceremonies of their own people.  This land will be held in trust for the future generations to care for and continue with ceremony.

I just shake my head, Beverly Little Thunder did not have the right to do sun dance
let alone start a cult from it plus the Sun Dances a male dance for the men why would
a woman want to control it, loss of culture and tradition then allowing non native to create
workshop for money is wrong
