RESOLUTION OF THE COMANCHE GENERAL COUNCIL TAKEN IN LAWTON, OKLAHOMA ON JULY 28, 2006
Resolution No. 126-02, Enrollment Withdrawal:
WHEREAS, the Comanche General Council is the duly elected official body designated to conduct the affairs for and on behalf of the Comanche Nation; and whereas, the Comanche Nation retains the exclusive right to determine the enrollment status of individuals pursuant to Article III, Section 1(c) Membership, of the Constitution of the Comanche Nation which states, “All descendants of allottees eligible for membership under the provision of Section 1(a) of this Article;
AND WHEREAS, the tradition of sovereignty of the Comanche Nation, since time immemorial long predates the existence of the United States of America, establishes the inherent sovereign powers and rights of Comanche self-government; whereas, the Constitution, Article VI, section 7(j), authorizes the General Council to enforce laws to promote the general welfare of the Nation;
AND WHEREAS, the Comanche Nation recognizes the issue of a community aspect being associated with individual rights and the law, long before the development of a unified American Judicial system; and, uncommonly, individual transgressions bring forth the need of a community remedy addressing the breach of social behavior set forth within Comanche civil society;
AND WHEREAS, the Comanche General Council recognizes the blatant assault on the Comanche Nation, resulting in damage to the reputation of its civil society and cultural practices, and attempts by a specific individual at undermining its sovereign structure as a self-governing community; and resulting in the cultural and financial backlash against the Comanche Nation as a whole by the misperceived misogynistic attributes, inappropriate stereotyped misrepresentations, and general “anti-Indian??? stance of the specifically named individual herein;
AND WHEREAS, such individual transgressions by this named individual are deemed abhorrent and unforgivable to Comanche civil society, as evidenced in the corpus of this individual’s writings over many years, regardless of the ethnic recognition of this perpetrator;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Comanche General Council and the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma calls for the disenrollment and banishment of one specific named individual, Mr. David Yeagley, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Comanche General Council and the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma calls upon the Free Press for immediate adoption of regulatory policies and rules eliminating the usage of Mr. David Yeagley’s verbal and written declarations, in all mediums.
