Just saw a horrifying television commercial for these products.  Not sure what to do/think.

Dear ****

Thank you for your email. The Lakota trademark for the use with the arthritis formulas produced by myself is jointly in the name of my father, Edward Stewart and Dave Archambault Jr., whom you may know or heard of if you are Lakota as he himself is Lakota and resides in Cannon Ball, ND.

When the company that distributes the products begins to make a profit, right now it is losing money as it seeks to create awareness of the products and generate sales, then a portion of those profits will go to the Lakota Entrepreneur Foundation, a non-profit organization that will use it's proceeds to fund would be Lakota Entreprenuers on the Lakota reservations if the products are successful sellers. It is a good thing for people on the res.

As for the percentage of the profits received by the Lakota Entrepreneur Foundation that information is up to them to disclose and not me.

Interesting, probably not doing well as some of what in it is not indigenious to North America. Commonly sold in these Health Stores or catalogs. Even Walmart sells it. Works for some, not too effective for others. frederica

Glad someone drew attention to this.  I've just been changing the channel every time I see that commercial.  It does have some medicial value, but only as an emetic.

I was at the store and they were selling this. Looked at the ingredients and compared it to another product that I use to help with arthritis pain. The one I take has more stuff in it and is cheaper. I think this product had about 60 pills for $15.00 and the one I take has 80 pills for that amount.

I think that's about right, I have some in-laws that swear by it. But not this particular brand. The mixture has been sold for several years. Some have more plants, some less. I've seen it sell for as high as $30 for about 200 capsules. Some are one a day, some two. I think the catch to it is you have to take it for a month or so before you see any results. That is, if it works for you. frederica

Is it that glucosamine and chondroitin?  My mom swears by that stuff.

Can be usually one or both. There is other plants mixed also on some products, usually amounts to derivatives of aspirin and other anti-inflamatorys. Some have more than one property. Sometimes there is an overlap in use.  Depends on how many ingredients they use.  frederica
