The sweat lodge ceremony is common to indigenous peoples all over the earth and is part of the ancestry of most of us if we trace our roots far enough back. It is an opportunity to turn off the outside world, experience our connection with the land, and journey deeply into ourselves. Arrival time before 9am is suggested; the estimated entry time is 10am. As always, please bring modest sweatlodge attire, a few towels and a healthy dish to pass. For more information e-mail lodgecouncil@gmail.com or contact Karen at 248-670-2560. Note: It is recommended but not necessary to pre-register for this event.
Jorge Arenivar is a beloved friend and trusted teacher of many within the EAC community. A native of Mexico currently living in St. Louis, Jorge is a sundancer and pipe carrier in the Lakota tradition and has been leading Inipi ceremonies at the EAC for many years.

Got a request on him. Apparently he's going to be selling ceremony in Czech Republic.

Arenivar claims to be a Sundancer and sells sweats. He's from mexico but is often falsely listed as Lakota.

Sells ceremony at a number of places.

Travels to Michigan where he's paid to do sweats for kids a couple times a year at this private school.

Also shamanic workshops in Michigan.

Sweats in Colorado, yet another false claim of lineage from Fool's Crow. Fool's Crow opposed exploiters and signed declarations by AIM.

Selling vision quests in north Mexico.

The request mentioned Karel Fuller as selling ceremony with him. This is him.

He has been doing this for years, he has also run "vision quests" in Norway and possibly elsewhere in Europe. He receives payment for ceremony and that is his livelihood.  He doesnt know the songs well, doesnt speak Lakota, allows women into the sweat lodge during their monthly cycles and the list goes on. He is a prime example of someone who has been allowed to particpate in Lakota ceremony and now feels he has the right to run ceremonies and change them.

I went as a supporter to Crow Dog's Paradise at Rosebud in 1990. Jorge was doing his fourth Sundance at that time at that location.
He was close with Calvin Ironshell and was working very much in the Lakota ways and in line with the traditions at that time.
I do not have recent information of my own to add beyond that there.

http://www.centrum-nesmen.cz/kursy/45-Samanska-cesta-s-Jorgem-RedtailHawk.html
in the Czech Republic in May and September of this year. The second event mentions the price of 5.500 CZK which is about 300 USD.
Here is the English translation of the 2011 program but you have to scroll down to May and September.
http://www.centrum-nesmen.cz/nesmen-englishprogram.html

Here is the description in English:

VISION QUEST

With Jorge Redtailhawk, the Sun Dancer of the Lakota tribe.

The unique experience for personal and spiritual growth. After the preparation and the ritual of purification we will spent 2 or 3 nights alone in the forest. The integration of experiences after return from the forest.

Limited number of participants!

It is necessary you register as soon as possible, as the part of the Vision Quest is longterm preparation - sexual abstinence a month before, fasting (one day a week, it is allowed to eat vegetable and fruits), meditation, letter in which your intention is described and preparation of prayer bags with tobacco for your protection.

The Shamanic Journey III

With Jorge Redtailhawk, the Sun Dancer of the Lakota tribe.

An ancient path to healing and bringing harmony in a modern world. The shamanic journey is a time honored method of spiritual exploration and healing utilized by many cultures around the world. It will help you develop and trust your own internal wisdom. It gives you the tools to listen to the voice that says "I can" instead of the voice that says "I can't". It will help you learn to make life decisions based on human wants and passions instead of society "shoulds and pressures". This journey will teach you simple steps to develop and maintain a personal journey practice. You will learn skills to begin healing blocked parts of your emotional-self and find harmony.

You will have the opportunity to explore your relationship to yourself in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere, and to participate in community or group rituals.

Fuller emailed me and says he had no part of selling ceremony with Arenivar. But he rather naively still defends Arenivar and believes in him. Here's his statement followed by my response.

----------

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply. I met Jorge Arenivar a few years ago, when he was in Czech republic and through the years we became friends. I know him like a good, open and wise man, who has ability to help people in troubles - he has deep insight and really strong connection with the creator . He helped me as well and I am very grateful to him. We visited him with my friends in USA twice and we made a nice trip in South-west.

It is a great honor to help him, if he wants - but I have to repeat: I haven´t helped him with selling anything. We don´t have any common „business – or - money issues“. I don´t sell ceremonies.

Faithfully yours

Karel Fuller

---------

I've posted your reply on our site.

This includes your very naive claim that he is a "good person". He is a fraud and ceremony seller, a Mexican who falsely claims to be a Lakota healer, who takes advantage of the good will of people seeking their spiritual path.

For your own sake and that of others, please take care to make sure that when someone claims to be a Native healer, make sure he is not an imposter. There are many con men out there making these false claims, and Arenivar is one.

Jorge, also known as Redtail Hawk, is a core energetic therapist, teacher and ceremonial leader. He has taught Native American Indian spirituality for over 20 years. A native of Mexico, he is a sundancer and pipecarrier in the Lakota tradition.

Jorge's mission is based on Mitakuye Oyason, meaning harmony with all my relations. He works to realize his vision to bring Light in this world, helping people in their work by lifting their consciousness and inner awareness, by encouraging the need to stay in the supported present, and by guiding them to be in right relationships with themselves and their community.

Jorge lives with his family in St. Louis, MO. He also travels internationally, teaching and supporting students of all ages in their quest to transform their lives.  Jorge can be found at the Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center several times a year guiding the Inipi Stone People’s Lodge Ceremonies, as well as teaching Native American Frame Drum making workshops.

On a monthly basis, we offer inipi (sweat lodge) ceremonies at True Nature in Lenado, CO (35 minutes from Aspen and Basalt). The lodge was initiated by Jorge Arenivar, a long-time ceremonialist. Branden, who pours water for the lodges, has been working with Jorge for many years and has Lakota family in Allen, South Dakota, Pine Ridge Reservation.

At Brana there regularly take place different communal rituals and ceremonies in the spirit of the Lakota tradition and our own ancestral Slavic knowledge. We work with the elements and directions, with music, with the herbs of power – and above all with ourselves. From the chaos of everyday we enter the sacred world. We manage and lead a sweat lodge, keep a tepee hallowed by a Lakota dancer of the Sun Jorge Arenivar.

Just a sidenote: Another European group of idealistic New Age seekers being taken in by a fraud from the Americas, this time in Slovakia:

I wonder how many times I have found out about such events for the past 40 years or so. The number of times I have seen it happen right before my eyes, with friends and acquaintances participating, runs into three digits. Then all the cases I just read about, near and far. — Sigh, when will people ever learn?

I'd very much like to know more about his visits to Norway. A quick Google search yielded nothing.
