In 1971, after residing in the northeast for some time, Ukuwiyuhi Okena Tsali Littlehawk of the Long Hair Clan located and united our northeastern fragmented Cherokee family and established the North-Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians--with the goal "...to promote and facilitate the preservation of the [Cherokee] religion, culture, and language...."  Thereby creating a traditional foundation for those of Cherokee descent in the northeastern United States.
 
To accomplish this ongoing, difficult goal, the Tribal Council has invested thousands of dollars on the necessary operating expenses.  These expenses have been paid by the Tribal Council and its member's donations, but more financial aid is needed to supplement our expenditures.

If you click History, it's mostly a recounting of their group doing things like "several members attended a powwow, donated X to charity Y, etc." At first glance they seem harmless, but a quick search turns up this, that one of their members is one of the worst sources of false information on the net. Has his own thread in here in fact.

Also found the homepage of the supposed Uku or principal chief. Note his dress. They're Black Muslim pretenders.

This site says they trademarked their name and then abandoned it. Address listed is in the Bronx on their "urban reservation." My guess is that's a reference to the way cops sometimes referred to the Bronx as "Ft Apache."

This group seems to be linked up with the Cherokee Blackfoot Cultural Circle group that's based out of NYC as well (with their chicken farm in Lee, Maine).

The CBCC group is definitely linked with the Muslim community and even advertises their pow-wow on Muslim websites, but puts forth a public persona of being a culturally accurate non-profit, while at the same time rewriting history.  At first glance the NEBCI group seems ok, but their association with the CBCC members raises some deep suspicions.

I notice that, like the heritage clubs and similar groups, they seem to confuse or misuse the words "tribe" and "family". We've seen this with the Chickamauga frauds and that Powhatan-Toney guy who tried to create an online myth of his biological family being a "tribe".

Sometimes people who do this will call their extended family and distant relations a "tribe", but in other cases they really only are talking about their immediate family. Sometimes it's just them and a couple friends.

I don't see how anyone who really understands what a tribe is would do this, unless they're ignorant, deluded, or defrauding people.

Wasn't there a joke about Bush being gifted a Native name of Walking Eagle and feeling very honoured. When the reporters asked the Elders what the name meant they explained a walking eagle was one so full of c*** it couldn't fly! Not a lot of difference between Walking Eagle and Eagle Walker.
