Legal action?
« on: June 22, 2010, 12:03:43 am »
I wonder if anyone has heard of legal action being taken against fake shamans selling ceremonies online or elsewhere?  A heavy element of fraud is often involved in their claims, and I wonder if this is an avenue that has been taken before, to stop these people from claiming to belong to certain Aboriginal nations and so forth.  I have seen situations such as with 'White Eagle Medicine Woman' where activists from various communities got her to stop saying (for a while) that she had any authority from wherever she was claiming it, but then again, her site is still up and running and get your credit cards out, folks!

Perhaps there is no value in pursuing these people in such a manner, and perhaps there is.  I'd be interested in hearing if there have been successful attempts to do so, based not on crimes such as sexual or physical abuse, but rather on the fraudulent claims themselves.
