Is anything known about this guy? http://carlossauershamanichealing.blogspot.com/ ... a German follower offers a 14-day trip to Brazil  http://www.seeschamane.de/index2.htm

Bio copied from his site
A native of Brazil, Carlos began studying Spiritual Healing and Brazilian Spiritist Depossession work as a teenager, around 1978, and received his primary training from his mother and sister, Myrian and Maria Lucia Sauer. In 1981, he came to the United States and lived in Big Sur, CA where he spent 20 years at Esalen Institute working and studying Shamanic Healing. His primary teachers are Michael Harner PhD, anthropologist and founder of The Foundation of Shamanic Studies, and Hector Gomez, a Native American church roadman from Argentina. Other teachers include Nelson Turtle, a Cheyenne Native American church roadman elder and Carlos’ adopted father, and Crow Bear, Sun Dancer from the Mohawk tribe. Carlos received his Esalen massage certificate in 1984 and was the coordinator and facilitator for the Esalen Institute Sweat Lodge from 1996 to 2004. Carlos taught Depossession trainings for the graduate students of the Foundation of Shamanic Studies for 6 years and currently teaches basic workshops in Shamanism for the FSS in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also teaches workshops privately in the US, Europe and Brazil, and continues to facilitate Sweat Lodge ceremonies.

Website: http://www.carlossauer.com/

His name has come up recently in connection to some pretty serious pay to pray scandals. Maybe some of the AIMsters who were directly involved in confronting people over the pay to pray would like to comment.

He seems to be a non-Native raking in the dough selling ceremony, primarily to Europeans.

Since he is involved in selling "Sweat Lodge Ceremony", "Native American Teachings", "Shamanic Healing"  and even a pay-to-pray, spiritual tourism Sun Dance where Europeans are paying thousands of dollars to attend, I think it's pretty clear he should be moved to Frauds.

There is no charge for attending a Sweat Lodge ceremony; however, it is an understanding among the elders and chiefs of the native people that monetary donations are welcomed.

Native people have been singing their prayers for thousands of years. These prayerful songs have great depth and power as they have been passed down for generations.  We will be drumming, singing and learning different chants from the Cheyenne, Chumash and Lakota traditions to name a few. Come with your hand drums, rattles, flutes and other music makers as we will journey together into the heart by chanting healing songs. This practice empowers our inner essence, creating an environment that induces healing for all participants and our planet.

SWEAT LODGE INIPI DESCRIPTION

Sweat Lodge is an ancient purification ceremony used by different cultures especially indigenous people around the world to worship our Mother Earth and to honor our relationship with all living things on our planet and the Universe.

We pray and sing together for the four directions focusing our attention on the great mystery of life. As the hearts of the participants begin to open, healing occurs as we experience the healing powers of Fire, Water, Earth and Air. The powers of the four elements keep us and all are relatives alive, and the teachings of the four directions, the East, South, West and North bring us knowledge and wisdom.

CARLOS SAUER'S CREDENTIALS

Carlos Sauer was first introduced to the Sweat Lodge purification ceremony in 1981 at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. He worked as a fireman for over 15 years for many Sweat Lodge leaders such as Hector Gomez, a roadman from Argentina. Another teacher was Crowbear, a Sundancer from the Mohawk tribe. Carlos had the honor to participate in Sweat Lodges with Wesley Black Elk and his deceased father, Wallace Black Elk from the Lakota tribe.

In 1991, Carlos met his adopted father Nelson Turtle, a roadman from the Southern Cheyenne Tribe from Oklahoma. Carlos worked side by side with Nelson for many years and was encourage to lead Sweat Lodges by Nelson Turtle in 1996. Carlos is connected to the Native American church, and by rights he received Nelson Turtle's Cheyenne fireplace in 2005. Except for Sauer's claim to have been taught by him, the only place I found with Gomez online is teaching a course with a young German graduate student on shamanism.

When did the NAC supposedly get down to Argentina? I've never even heard of them being in Mexico.

following statement is translated by google

Quote
"Sweat Lodge Leader

The use of the sweat lodge by Natives of North America is based on a very widespread tradition. The West has a culture of laws and regulations, which we do not know what tradition is. Spiritual traditions always have a reason, which is linked to mythology, natural phenomena and 'how spirit works.

Despite all the destruction and attempts to remove different traditions, there are still many tribes and each have their own way of doing things. There are many different ways that things can work .. The sweat lodge comes to us westerners, from different tribes and traditions, and by different people. So we have a lot to learn about the sweat lodge. Seemingly contradictory things

The enthusiasm of us Westerners often exceeds the skills and knowledge to lead. Ceremonies in a good way The path of the sweat lodge leader is never finished, we continue to deepen our relationship with the sweat lodge.

Leading a sweat lodge can not and should not be underestimated. As a leader, you are responsible for the safety of all and all the people who are with you in the sweat lodge there. You have to go in with a clear mind, as a leader you can not hide problems when you enter the cabin. You can pray for purification, but if you yourself are not willing to be purified of your own anger, jealousy and so you can lead a better cabin.

It has been known for centuries that often sweat a therapeutic effect and has a healing effect in many cases. "Give me a fever and I can cure any disease," said Hippocrates. Anyway sweating is a necessary function of the body. It effectively removes toxins so that the skin is called the "third kidney" is mentioned.

Besides the physical healing and often testing the sweat lodge can also be an emotional, mental Sweatlodge Lead Eren spiritual event in which the necessary healing takes place.

This training was developed after years of searching, along with Elders from various traditions, who are willing to reach out to out of respect to lead the sweat lodge and respecting the traditions and "all things." Westerners handles on

Ceremonies, what are they for?

For healing, health and happiness of people. Ceremonies are there to help you live in beauty and in harmony with life and with each other, "to walk in beauty 'people. Ceremonies are about life, about power. They connect us to Mother Earth and teach us about respect, discipline and perseverance. Everything we do has a reason and everything has a reason!

The sweat lodge is like a living being, the red-hot stones are the heart, the blood water, steam, the arms that embrace us. We treat the sweat lodge with respect, it is a sacred place, a power spot, charged with the energy of life.

This course runs over three years and you get about teaching:

     - The symbolism and mythology of the sweat lodge, the poles, the cover, the spirit path, the door, the altar, the fire pit ...

     - The, what we call, "four elements": fire, grandfather, grandmother water, mother earth, father sky (the sky).

     - The stone people and the stone ceremonies

     - The connection of the sweat lodge with thunderbeings

     - The four directions

     - The role of the fire keeper, doorkeeper, water woman

     - The sacred herbs

     - Spirit songs

     - Pray and sacrifice

     - Spirit, what is this and how does spirit

     - Ceremonial leadership.

     - and Others

The basic training consists of 7 blocks of 3 days. Each module we are going to sweat lodges, to connect on a deeper level, where you will learn different ways to assist. Sweatlodge during these blocks, you get the basisteachings ceremony and sweat. The training is provided by Dirk Ghekiere, Bill Braveheart (USA), Tom Cook (USA), Loretta Afraid of Bear (USA). Ron Evans (Can) is a consultant and supervisor of this training.

In addition to this basic training, there are refresher courses and training huts where you will practice huts to give teachings and which are further explored. Chance itself There is always a block in the spring and one in autumn. Two of the four days are always led by natives.

Sweat Lodge Leader trainingWie has not followed the training firekeeper not initiated, and no 10 fires have herded can do in between this. The fire keepers training includes two four-day, each time in the first week of June, from Wednesday to Saturday.

Anyone who is willing to walk the path of sweat lodge leader will accompany at least 10 practice cabins, 2 cabins under the supervision of an elder, before he guides cabins for external people.

Elsewhere in this training are: Ron Evans (Ojibwe - Cree), Bill Braveheart and Loretta Afraid of Bear (Lakota), Tom Cook (Mohawk), Hector Gomez (Arapaho - Cheyenne), Jose Brown etc. The training is chaired by Dirk Ghekiere of different Elsewhere permission has been given the wisdom to pass. tradition of the sweat lodge

After finishing the training you can join the 'fox medicine society on a regular basis teachings about sweat lodge and cabins organizes training"

There are other trainings for psychotherapuetic treatments and their mental deseases. But some points are strange to me.

They offer therapies
quote:
angst- en onzekerheidsklachten,  depressieve klachten, vragen over zingeving, omgaan met agressie en boosheid, omgaan met rouw en afscheid, identiteitsproblematieken, traumaverwerking  , relatiebegeleiding"

in english:
    " anxiety and uncertainty complaints

     depressive symptoms

     questions about meaning

     aggression and anger

     dealing with grief and farewell

     identity problematics

     trauma counseling

     relationship counseling"

I know
Anxiety and panic disorders
Personal identity disorders
Trauma counseling does not state at what the teachers mean.

The body therapy is an important part if some one works with people with mental issues, but noone need to be examinated in a psychological profession to get the right to learn this. But if someone works with people with mental issues he / she must be instructed how to treat and how to be in the contact. I doubt this institute is able to teach a substantiated knowledge about this indispensable important facts.
The combination and therapy-ways of these ceremonies are not good way in my opinion.
