Island County authorities are asking for your help finding a suspected child molester.

Michael Angelo, a.k.a. Michael Webb, is accused of sexually molesting an 8 year old girl last summer.

Police say Angelo was confronted by the victim's family, and went into hiding.

He appeared in Island County Superior Court for his arraignment back in December, and was issued a Sexual Assault Protection Order, stating that Angelo have no contact with the victim, and ordered  him to immediately surrender all firearms and other dangerous weapons within his possession or control and any concealed pistol license to the Island County Sheriff's Office.

Angelo holds a concealed pistol license issued in Washington State, and has two firearms (handguns) registered in his name.  To date, Angelo has not surrendered his firearms. 

For failing to comply with the Sexual Assault Protection Order, on 1/07/11 a No Bail Warrant was issued from the Island County Superior Court for Angelo's arrest.

"Angelo is described as a white male, 44 years old, 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds. The sheriff's office advised that Angelo frequents Native American activities and groups throughout the state and claims to be a healer.

It's been confirmed by the alleged victim's mother that the little girl is only six years old.

UPDATE: Accused Whidbey child molester in media spotlight turns self in

A 44-year-old South Whidbey man accused of child molestation turned himself into the Island County jail after spending a few weeks on the lam, according to the Island County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators put out a press release last Friday asking for the public's help in locating Michael S. Angelo, who's also known as Michael Wayne Webb. AS a result, media attention wise widespread throughout the Puget Sound area.

Angelo was wanted on a no-bail warrant out of Island County Superior Court after he allegedly violated a sexual assault protection order.

Angelo turned himself in Monday morning.

Prosecutors charged Angelo with first-degree child molestation last year. He's accused of molesting an 8-year-old girl.

A judge issued a sexual assault protection order barring Angelo from contact with the victim and also ordered him to immediately surrender all firearms and any concealed pistol license to the Island County Sheriff's Office.

Angelo failed to comply with the protection order, the sheriff's office reported. In response, a judge issued a no-bail warrant for Angelo's arrest at a Jan. 7 hearing. In addition, Angelo holds a concealed pistol license, has two handguns registered in his name, but hadn't turned them in.

The sheriff's office advised that Angelo frequents Native American activities and groups throughout the state and claims to be a healer.
