ALERT: Imposters Posing Online as NAFPS, Other Activists, or Elders

This thread will be for any and all online imposters specifically posing as Native people or groups they are not in order to spread confusion or libel.

What makes this thread necessary is one man in particular. Yes, William Jervis AKA "Firewalker" has his own thread under Frauds detailing his long history of deception and abuse for money. Recently he's been quite busy setting up numerous fraudulent profiles online impersonating NAFPS, the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, and even Arvol Looking Horse. He even fakes being "Kicking Bird," the character from Dances With Wolves.

The short list so far. We're trying to get these false IDs, profiles, addresses, blogs, etc pulled but it's a lot of work.

Jervis fakes numerous sites using the name of Esowatch, but also misrepresents
Henry Red Cloud, and Arvol Looking Horse. Jervis published several videos on
YouTube misrepresenting himself as part of the Peltier Defense Comitee or
supporting their work, and explicitely asking for donations in one of them
(the LPDC has been informed of this a few days ago).

Already some years ago, Jervis faked an association by the name of Native
American Indian Association, and recently published a video thanking NAAoG for
doing an event with him (which never happened and never will). With the video,
he published a contact addy faking the official NAAoG contact address.

So it is his usual MO - faking sites giving the impression they were
maintained by the real projects, faking statements in their name etc.

He seems to have quite recently taken up impersonating Pablo Russell and the
fake Inuit shame-on Angaangaq Lyberth and also maintains a blog in the name of
Lyberth (however, that should be their problem, I just add this to complete
the picture). As strange as it may be, Jervis seems to be treating friend and
foe alike and fakes statements by Russell and Lyberth - while ratting on them
in comments in the Esowatch blog at the same time.

We all know what an apology IS New Age Frauds & Plastic Shamans   have a difficult time making amends for mistakes or repairing the effects of angry words, here’s how to keep OUR dignity while being humble, and invite forgiveness with grace.

Does he seriously believe that anyone would think that is real?

You can't even spell simple words like "you" and "our" let alone words that are a bit more difficult for him like "causing".

On the bright side I think you know that you are doing a good job when frauds have to resort to desperate measures like these.

I also immediately saw that it was fake, spelling errors and the way it was arranged jumped out at me.

 funny thing is, he has a working link to the main page. just a click on the forums button will reveal his attempt at deception.

The blog has been blocked after protests from Arvol´s family.
Unfortunately I didn´t copy the entries, but it was a statement that Lakota ceremonies are free to use for anyone.
The name of NAFPS was also used.

Please keep your eyes open if he pops up somewhere else.

Evidence is mounting against him.  It's not my call, I'm just a contributor and this isn't my forum, but it seems Burchett may be setting himself for another visit by authorities.  This time it might involve his girlfriend Alexis as well, since he seems to register these domains to her name....wonder if she even knows?  Can't imagine any sane individual would agree to letting someone else use their name to set up libelous websites (essentially breaking the law in someone else's name).....

I believe this guy is in Germany...And if he is fakeing around over here and impersonating peoples then it is very possiable to get him aressted! Germany has no freedom of speech laws, like in the USA, and if he is acting like Arvol Looking horse and posting false infos in the internet BOOM they will get him. If anyone knows exactly where this guy is, I will proceed to inform the authorites. It seems that the man may be very dangerous, and looks like he´s nuts.

the laws re passing off are different from territory to territory but would definitely be worth checking out.

Yeah....he's definitely impersonating her online.  This should get interesting....the one you posted contained another of Burchett/Jervis's child like postings where he's pretending that Crowther is writing a message giving him complete permission to open and teach a "shaman school" in her name.

is a similar profile, but it actually uses her copyrighted "tribe of many colors" logo.  Would be interesting...if she were aware, if this would start a shameon legal battle, which would make that courtroom into great theater.

He's also created a fake e-mail:  littlegrandmother@yahoo.com ...Crowthers e-mail used for her "tribe" is the beautyawakens one.  The posting date is 4/19/2011 which means he just put these up yesterday (and he's still active...probably with new nafps fake blogs too).  Ironically Crowther may find out about Burchett's online impersonation of her and attempt at stealing her source of income through the board here.  Doubt we'll get a thanks though...lol

Actually, the link was posted on TOMC FB-site this morning (well, as in European time), questioning wether it was the real deal. But now it´s removed. No explanation. No debunking. Nothing. Like many things on that website, it just disappears....

Just adding this for the record, for anyone just stumbling into all this:

Arvol and Paula are aware of the fake profiles, and want them taken down. We have gotten about half of them down, and are working on the others. If you come across anyone online claiming to be Chief Arvol Looking Horse, please remember this: Arvol does not blog. He does not post on message boards, nor does he have any profiles on any social networking sites.

In the future, all official statements from Arvol will come from their official website: http://wolakota.org/

Once the website is upgraded, Paula will continue to also send out Arvol's statements for him via email, as she does now, but in the future they will include a link to confirm them on the official website. This has become necessary due to the impersonators and attempts at identity theft.

While Arvol does not use the computer himself, he has full access to what is online, and a team of assistants who research and keep him up to date on these things - he knows about the situation with Jervis, Crowther, and the other frauds and has been aware of it all along. When asked about Kiesha Crowther his response has been that Ms. Crowther is not a member of the Lakota Nation, she is not a relative, and she has no rights to ceremonies.

Anyone claiming otherwise is misinformed. Please set them straight if it comes up. Thanks
