Secondly, these people are either known frauds, scam artists or otherwise very dubious.

"Dr" Robert Ghost Wolf
ROBERT GHOST WOLF Author, Artist and Shaman of the Metis People  Wednesday, May 27, 1998 Robert Ghost Wolf was on the Art Bell show.

I don't about a "Henry Franzoni" but one Robert Frances Franzone is who "Robert Ghost Wolf" is. He has also gone by the names of Robert Parry, Bobby Wolfe and Robert Wolfe.
He isn't a Native American either; he's Italian. "Robert Ghost Wolf" is what you call a phony-baloney plastic injun, and yes he has been on Art Bell a few times. The reason I know all this is because I'm in touch with some of his past victims he's scammed.

Gordon Michael Scallion,
http://www.crystalinks.com/gordon.html
You see, before 1999, he was predicting that all the "Earth Change" disasters would have been fulfilled by 2001. Then for some unexplained reason, he went right on to replay all the predictions to be fulfilled by 2012! I guess changing dates keeps his popularity afloat, and people don't seem to mind it--
http://skepdic.com/comments/scallioncom.html

GMS is actually a prophetic industry that he calls The Matrix Institute. One of his more popular items for sale is a map of the future Earth as seen by GMS. On this map - which he once claimed would be the true map of the world by at least the year 2002 - California is nothing but a few islands in the Pacific and Denver is where the ocean front property sits. (This is a revision of an earlier prophecy that also proved false.)

Even though I disagree with just about everything else on your website, I'm glad to see there's some healthy skepticism when it comes to the truly destructive frauds like Franzone. Be warned, he and his followers can be vicious, they spent over a decade using smear tactics against a late member of NAFPS.

Thanks for the list of links. We've recently been in touch with a Hawaiian activist. I'll ask her about Sterling.

Some entertaining debunking of Scallion. Scallion's stuff makes him a good candidate for Looniest Nuager.

Well, I don't expect eveyone to agree with everything on my site,  but there is one thing I very much dislike and that is "posers".  No one has to like who I am either, but at least I do not pretend to be anything other than who I am.  I'm glad those links will be useful to you.

I hope you'll take a good look at our sites for information on the OTHER posers as well, ones you have on your site that you might not realize are also frauds. Just in http://www.spiritual-endeavors.org/native/index.html alone, you have these imposters:

Hunbatz Men- he's actually not Mayan, and neither is anything he teaches.

Ed McGaa- ex lawyer posing as an elder, we have an ex member of his cult in here.

Brooke Edwards (AKA Medicine Eagle)- white imposter posing as a Crow elder, denounced by the Crow as a fraud

Charles Storm (AKA Heymeyohsts Storm)- German-American with a little bit of distant Crow ancestry, poses as Cheyenne elder, denounced by Cheyenne elders and tribal council as a liar and a racist and his teachings are considered a desecration of actual Cheyenne ways.

There is someone else, "Aluna Joy Yaxin" who is (to Natives) also a fairly obvious fraud.
Selling "spiritual tourism".
http://www.kachina.net/~alunajoy/happen.html

I laughed out loud at this silly quote from her book sales:
"The indestructible coil binding and laminated cover will last through a few galatic shifts and many steamy jungle jaunts."

And this part of her website is a laugh a minute, one of the craziest hodgepodges of contradictory pseudo beliefs I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure that her selling "MT SHASTA ESSENCES The Essence of Mother Mary" would offend the tribes who hold Mt Shasta as their sacred site.
http://www.kachina.net/~alunajoy/essences.html

Her listed on a Junk Science site.

BTW, you have "Ghostwolf" listed as an "expert" on UFOs elsewhere on your site.

Are you sure you are at the right site(s)?

Except for the link to http://www.spiritual-endeavors.org/native/index.html which was NOT posted by me and to which I clearly state "these people are either known frauds, scam artists or otherwise very dubious." ,I don't have these links or any references to these people.

I do go through your sites often and find useful information....I try to steer clear of controversial people and there are some I avoid altogether.

"ghostwolf" an "expert" on UFO"s?  I don't think so.

So is spiritual-endeavors.org not your site? Because the message was worded in such a way as to suggest it was, and you list no other site on there as yours that I can see. Sorry if I mistook their words for yours, but I don't see your site listed.

No, "spiritual-endeavors.org"  is not my group and I am in no way associated with it.  I posted those links in my reply to "my" group so that members could look them up to see where I got the information from.

Sorry for any confusion on this.

"My" groups are:

...'course it may likely be that you still won't agree with much on them!

great article!

I'm not stealing anything.  I make no claim to the rightful "ownership" of these items, nor do I pass them off as authentic in anyway.  (Except for the ones that are - like several items I have from a rez near Edmonton, made and blessed by elders.)

I, like many others, am a person without a country, without a culture.  Like many others, I had my country taken away from "me", (via my ancestors).  "We" were forced to leave and my ancestry is the result of raping and pillaging of our homes.  I am a "white" person born into a country I did not choose but have come to love.  A country of mixed heritage.

I posted what I did in the previous messages in the hopes that it may be of help to you.  I can continue to help .... or not.

All I can say in reply to this is that native ceremonies and cultural items belong to native people and in native communities. You can not just take them out of context even if you don't claim ownership or authenticity. It *is* disrespectful and the fact that your people suffered in the past as well doesn't make it any more right.

What you did is a help to us, and we're always glad for any help. That doesn't change the fact that the article you wrote is way off base. Mostly it accuses Native activists of saying and doing things we never did or said. But most of the rest of your site is much better than that short article.

Think of it this way: Suppose you wrote a short article accusing rape crisis centers of hating men, and then posted lots of information on preventing rape? Because that's close to what you've done.

I do recall you from the old NAFPS yahoo group. As I remember one of your members tried to start a flame war with NAFPS. I remember suspecting that she (he?) was a member or friend of WHOA (Working to Halt Online Abuse) and Sweetgrass Lodge, the second group some white pseudo feminists/environmentalists impersonating being Native medicine women. WHOA is run by Jayne Hitchcock, who we suspected of being the actual leader of SGL as well as having people inside Yahoo who were shutting down every Native activist group they could.

During the whole episode you did quite a lot ot calm things down and got the agent provocateur to show a little more control, which certainly helped us.

From what I recall, your site is quite a change from what it used to be. I believe you once had upfront an article by someone dubiously claiming to be a Native elder proclaiming "You have a right to this knowledge". But even then you had a lot more healthy skepticism than many in the shamanism movement, and unlike many of them, did not fall apart or get hysterical at the slightest critique.

I do applaud your site being almost entirely links or articles to fairly rigorous research, lots of anthropology, etc. It's probably no surprise to you that I disagree strongly with the statement on your site that you practice some Native rituals and "honor" Natives by doing so. I hope it's not sweatlodges or peyote or ayahuasca that your group is doing. I wouldn't be "honoring" Jews if I went around doing circumcisions, I'd just look silly saying that and be endangering people.

About your claiming to not have a culture: I get into this debate with my white/European/latecomer students all the time. No one is without a culture. Thinking you are is both a symptom of white privilege and an illustration of the need to abolish white privilege. I always urge my students to seek identity as Irish, Anglo, German, etc, instead of "white" which does as much damage to them as it has to nonwhites.

Those are rather dramatic words: armies running amok don't usually leave many survivors to emigrate. Are you sure your ancestors weren't economic migrants fleeing drought, famine or rack-renting landlords? Or were they persecuted religious sectarians?

Whatever they were, when they set sail I doubt they stopped speaking their languages, singing songs, practising traditional handicrafts, telling stories, or following their religion.

I agree with Al's point about whiteness. There's an awful lot of literature and other material about that concept. Here are a few suggestions:

Thank you, I appreciate your words.

However, I do NOT accuse NA's or anyone of things they have/haven't said or done.  It encompasses ALL cultures and the "fact" that I have no right to any article from any of them.

As to practising and honoring Native rituals - I attend when invited by an elder.  I DO NOT conduct any such ritual.   I do use a drum, but that is not strictly NA.  I also use Sweetgrass, but again, that is a circumpolar plant used by other cultures as well.

I grew up in "Indian" country.  I grew to love their ways, the customs and cultures were shared with me BECAUSE I had respect for them.  Now, I am being told that I can no longer love them because they don't belong to me.  Fine, I don't want to "own" them.  But I am very, very proud of the people I grew up with.  I am proud of the heritage they shared with me.  And I still love them....the people, the customs and the cultures.

Seeking my identity.  I am of Dutch, Norwegian and Spanish descent and proud of that.  But which culture/tradition/religion should I pursue?  Christianity?  No, that is only a few thousand years old, doesn't fit at all with the values I grew up with, and I wanted to go back to the earliest possible historical beginnings of my roots.  A lot of research into what my ancestors were doing and believing in BEFORE Christianity swept Europe showed that they were "pagan" and using "shamanic" techniques, (even tho the word is a translation and used as a word of communication and not a definition).  That felt right, and that is what I have pursued.

Because it is earth-based and earth-honouring it does cross many aspects of a variety of NA traditions.  I can't cut those aspects out simply because someone claims they do not belong to me.  They do belong to me - not that I, or anyone, can "own" them.  The basic roots of belief in earth/nature honor are the same, globally.  It is, however, the cultural and religious expression of those beliefs that have evolved differently.  And those expressions deserve respect, each within its own culture.

Maybe, up here in Canada, it is different.  There are some who still do not think non-NA's should be taught anything, but many of them are honoured to share knowledge.  I know that some things are never shared.  I respect that.  And, even if I have been taught a ritual or ceremony I never conduct it.  But knowing about it, the why's and wherefor's of the elements of those ceremonies helps me to understand better my own connection to Spirit.

Yes, I do a lot of research and all that research often takes me to links and information about some very dubious people.  I have a long list of people I would like to question you about!  As a for instance, just who the heck is ["Mostafa Salim Dia" "stalker_nagual"  "mostafa dia" "stalker_warrior"]?  This person is all over the web, but that should probably be another topic altogether.  Oh yes....and Millenium Twain  aka Aemortal Twain, yonibluestar,
MessiahTwain???

Hopefully, enough said on this topic, we'll agree to disagree on some issues, and I'll continue to provide information when I can and look to your sites for any information you have to share.

Ah, yes, Mr. McEwan...we meet again.

Well, my ancestry is a good example of armies running amok and spending some time "out behind the barn" or wherever.  The invasion of the European lowlands by the Norwegians and again by the Spanish is why I am here.

When my ancestors set sail, (only about 50 years ago) ....they did leave behind the language, traditions, stories and religions.  They were determined to be "Canadian" embracing all that they considered to be Canadian, leaving me with very little roots of any cultural stability.  It has taken me years to re-discover who I am and to seek out my ancestral past.

These statements don't follow: what do Viking raids hundreds of years ago or the War of the Spanish Succession, which ended in 1714, have to do with your parents' or grandparents' deciding to emigrate to Canada in the 1950s? What
