Karen Pringle AKA Shaman Jahroot
« on: December 15, 2014, 04:09:18 pm »
Got a request about her, saying Pringle falsely claims a grandmother was Black and a medium and the source of her alleged abilities. She's mostly an altmed healer type, but claims to be able to do a little of everything.

--------
http://www.jahroot.net/about.html
....Whether you are interested in improving your life, your health, your finances, your weight, your energy, or it's a guidance/coaching issue related to your relationship, my years of expertise in bridging spirit and matter in my nearly 18 years as a Family Law Specialist Paralegal in San Jose, California, and decades of study, observation in a variety of subjects, personal experiences, COMBINED with my highly Intuitive abilities have assisted thousands in lovingly meeting their goals.

I am a Womban....

I have taught classes through local community education in the following subjects: Introduction to Raw Foods; Intermediate Raw Foods; Juicing, Juice Feasting, Smoothies, Superfoods, Ital Cooking, Sick and Tired of Being Sick & Tired: Exhausted Adrenals, and some hormonal issues, including bringing in a compounding pharmacist to also support my talk regarding  BHRT (BioIdentical Hormone Replacement Therapy),  Feeding Fido & Kitty, African Hand Drumming and more!

I've given demonstrations for Superfoods at health food stores in the Twin Cities...

Hundreds of clients have received 'Readings/Guidance' through Facebook, Skype, email, and by phone, VIRTUALLY and I have named names, partial names, colors, ancestor names at times, I have given tarot readings to help ascertain the path to take for investments for major business owners, and for a great many who have called, or written as well as even more in person, who have received a diagnosis...

I have been employed writing for attorneys and judges in private to medium sized law firms and also for Santa Cruz County Courts for the judges. I've learned how to listen well over a decade in my work life, as a Certified Family Law Specialist Paralegal, a Licensed Massage Therapist, and Wellness Coach, and Mother...

My GrandMother began working with me at the tender age of 8. She began her quest to reach her first born son who was lost in a helicopter accident, "Dennis" was of course missed by the entire family, and that hurt rippled through everyone's lives! She began with "billet readings" and I learned at age 8 to utilize my higher mind, my third/Far eye, and also began animal communication; we had chow chow dogs, monkeys, cats and birds. There are a multitude of stories in my lifetime, travels out of country, and road-trips most recently wherein I have given information at stops along the way, everything from:  HELPFUL HEALTH INFORMATION, MEDICALLY INTUITIVE, ANCESTOR, MEDIUMSHIP, ANIMAL COMMUNICATION/HEALING and more.

I have established over 40 years earning wisdom, learning, and applying it helping others with Guidance in a variety of ways that are known to be the WAY OF THE SHAMAN....

I was born with a highly intuitive nature, when I was a child it was evidenced and my grandmother worked with me. I later heard from those who had 'passed' and became acutely aware that Energy only changes form. I related thousands of messages with those who came for massage, as when we touched in sessions, I often sensed symbols, Ancestors communication, and especially colors. Clients often report seeing colors, and most often: purple and white colors at the crown chakra.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist Full time for nearly twelve years, I developed an expertise in another human interest, "MindBody" work!...Utilizing Louise Hay's interpretations and Dr. John Sarno's book, The Divided Mind....

My education in American School of Herbalism (2000) showed me why my clients were manifesting "cleansing opportunities" that we call "colds" and I began to see the link with the "flu" and Holidays...

I've come to see many of our 'diagnosed' ailments, including Allergies, depression, obesity, anxiety, and others, as not just a medical condition but more so a MindBody issues. I also see many of our "accidents" as having a part in what is happening in our MindBody emotional and self talk manifestation realm....

I became known by many of my clients as Medicine Woman and I affectionately at times termed myself as "the bush doctor."  I gave them massage, energy, and nourishing ideas about improving their health and well being with deep listening, guidance, wellness, energy and as a Cancer, that Earth Mother nourishment included in a table with Esalen-style massage!

As an Elder, I have had a good amount of coursework at colleges and universities, with a Liberal Arts degree...I attended West Valley College (2 year Paralegal Certificate Family law Specialty), Mission College, SJSU, UCSC, Merced College, Fon Du Lac College, Twin Lakes College of Healing, Center for Conscious Touch, American School of Herbalism, Pamela Masters Raw Foods, Laws of Attraction Coach Certification (Basic & Advanced), and sat with great mentors like John Robbins (Diet for a New America), Herb Walks with Christopher Hobbs...

My work history includes 18 years in the family law business and 5 years of that as an Independent Paralegal in family law...
I owned and operated Essential Touch for over a decade full time offering massage and wellness to my own clients, and, I also was a demo rep for a Superfoods company part time. I've worked as an employee for independent attorneys up to mid size law firms...

I wondered about her use of "Jah", then found her explanation here:

Quote
The hair is the linkup to the Jah Connection for healing.” she explains. “As a conduit and as a healer it facilitates my ability to deliver healing.” Karen Pringle is forever dedicated to the Jamaican roots of Rastafarian culture since she was a young adult.

http://www.examiner.com/article/hair-her-heiress-the-meaning-behind-hair

Her full name is Karen Lisa Pringle, born 1961.

This obit is for one of her grandmothers:

Quote
Etna E. Floyd, 91, of Cloquet, Minn., died Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. She was born July 14, 1918, in Kerrick, Minn., to James and Amelia Stephenson. In 1938 she married Robert Hodges. They moved to California in 1943 where Etna worked for the federal government for 24 years, retiring in 1984. In 1957 she married Aron Floyd. After her retirement, she spent summers in Minnesota until 2001 when she moved to Cloquet.

Quote
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Hodges; her second husband, Aron Floyd; son, Dennis Hodges; and sister, Elsie Fall.

Etna is survived by two daughters, Melvina "Mel" Pringle of Cloquet and Kandi Adams of Lathrop, Calif.; one son, Darwin (Mary) Hodges of Valley Spring, Calif.; five grandchildren, Karen Pringle, Jeff (Laura) Pringle, Spencer Pringle, Derek (Kimi) Adams, and Denise (Jerry) Eckler; and eight great-grandchildren, Zahwa, Dennis, Jillian, Alanna, Lakota, Darren, Justin and Jacquelyn.

On the question of "Can white people become Rastafarians?":

Quote
AS RASTAFARIANISM has no official dogma and no formal 'church', there is no conversion process. The nearest thing to a church that Rastas have is the Twelve Tribes of Israel Church, which is multi-racial and will accept anyone, without a ceremony, who recognises Haile Selassie I to be one of a long line of prophets. Although it is possible to be a 'cleanface, baldhead' Rasta, most Rastafarians follow the Nazarites in that they do not use combs or razors (hence beard and dreadlocks) and do not practise any sort of body piercing or tattooing. Also, most Rastafarians follow some or all of the Pentateuchal dietary laws and live lives not dissimilar to Orthodox Jews.

Quote
Therefore, to become a Rasta, one must believe Haile Selassie to be at least a prophet descended from Solomon, practise a pious lifestyle and be righteous, but most importantly gain acceptance among a group of believing Rastafarians. This is not as difficult as it seems for a white person. To find out how to live as a Rasta, just ask one of us.

Karen is light skinned. Maybe she does have a grandmother who is black, but it is easy to see why there could be doubt. As for having a black grandmother who was a medium, we might be able to find out if that is true once we know who both grandmothers are. I'll see if I can find her maternal grandmother in census.

Her maternal grandmother Etna's parents were James and Amelia Stephenson. In the 1920 census they are all listed as white.

James was born in Minnesota, his mother from Germany, father from Ohio.

Amelia's was born in Germany, she immigrated in 1876 as a child, both her parents are from Germany.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MWBG-QJG

Here are photos of Karen's grandmother Etna http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=50195748 And Karen's maternal grandfather http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=26109414

From this it is a safe guess that Karen's maternal grandmother was not a Black medium, nor did she present herself as such.

My guess is that Karen's father is named Kenneth W Pringle https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VKS2-LPS. We could find out who his parents are and find census for Karen's paternal grandmother. Although we might not need to, looks like Karen's grandmother claims are about her maternal grandmother.

As always, I could be mistaken (unless there are actual confirming records, such as in Roy Edgar Glass' case) , I lay out what I piece together so anyone else can look it over as they research too. I know the obit is correct as Karen's son is named Zahwa.

Quote
When my Sun, Zahwa was born in 1995, I moved into Santa Cruz, city limits.

Here is Dennis Dean Hodges, he did indeed die in a helicopter crash, R.I.P. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=37340319

If this is the grandmother that Karen has elsewhere claimed is Black, I've not found any evidence that she is correct, only records that say the family is white.

If I went to someone whose main claim to abilities was that they were taught by their Black grandmother who was a medium, I would expect that person to use the name of the grandmother freely, and to have a photo of the grandmother in a place of prominence in their work space, on an altar, someplace like that.

My name is Kandi. I am Karen's Aunt. Her mother is my sister. My mother, Karen's grandmother, Etna Floyd was in no way black or had black ancestry per DNA. She only tried to contact my brother Dennis, after he died in s helicopter crash in 1961. She was not a healer or a shaman nor psychic. My Grandmother came here from her birthplace, Germany, when she was 4. The paternal grandmother also was not black and was English descent. Husbands of each of these women were also not black or had black ancestry. I can trace my roots to my great grandparents who came here on a boat from Germany along with a 4 year old Amelia, my grandmother. My mother was born in Minnesota and lived most of her life in California. Karen's bio is totally wrong. She worked for sn attorney that I introduced her to, got a paralegal degree with much helo from me. She worked in Merced for a short period of time and quit because she wanted to be home with her son, Zahwa. She met a Jamaican man and he told her he did not want any kids. She got pregnant anyway and tried to force him to be with her. Karen is by no means a Shaman, a healer or even has any medical training. She has been reported to the State of MN as practicing without a license.  If you have questions I have not answered, please feel free to write me at ducky101246@yahoo.com

About a year ago, Karen L. Pringle actually commented on this NAFPS thread about her, referring to Kandi:

NAFPS/Al Carroll — fraudulent and defamatory
Review updated: Nov 23, 2018 — 37 comments
I found that my business reputation and name are being defamed by this entity known as "NAFPS" and "Al Carroll" inadvertently by doing a search on Google.com. I have a physical business location offering licensed Massage Therapy and am additionally licensed in Minnesota to offer Wellness Consultations, offering Food as Medicine, where I've helped hundreds of clients in good faith, often for no charge reverse and assist with given diagnosis. I have had an extensive amount of education including herbal studies in part, massage school, and my grandmother worked with me a young girl developing intuitive abilities.

When I perused this information, I was shocked! I have a website that I pay for and people often search the internet to seek out references and make sure there is no bad press! There is NONE about me whatsoever; including NONE at my physical business address in a small city where I would have been removed long ago in a very conservative community!

I feel that I am being disparaged, defamed and that my stellar reputation is suffering the result of this fraud.

I am entirely sure that I am aware of the person who submitted this to Mr. Carroll (Kandi Hodges Adams) who resides in Lathrop, California and is angry that her mother, my grandmother indicated to the family before her passing in 2010 that our family genealogy included an African descendant. I was told this as a child that I have African ancestors and Etna E. Floyd disclosed it to the entire family before her passing in Minnesota in, I believe it was 2010. Kandi Hodges Adams, whose name is also submitted on the photographs of Etna E. Floyd, her biological mother is full of hate and contempt at my success of nearly 35 years of study of natural healing and my successes at helping others and was angered at her being viewed as "attacked" on my Facebook personal page where she was a "friend" until I removed her as she was making statements on her page that I was her niece and that I was "...not a Shaman." I have invested my entire life in this work; it's my passion helping other people; the majority of it has been at no charge until I recently when as a solo mother and my son graduated this past year I put together a website at: www.JahRoot.net offering my services to the virtual community. She intimated that she was on the phone seeking to disparage my reputation for which I am greatly affected.

I would sincerely appreciate any and all help I may receive in this regard; I am at a loss as to what to do about this and how somebody can post this kind of thing?

Please contact me via email or telephone if there is a way to discuss this and recommend further what I may do to stop this individual: Kandi Hodges Adams.

Very truly yours, Karen L. Pringle

THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING ME, I appreciate the love!

In a 2015 article she explains her work and worldview:

LIFESTYLE
Cloquet woman offers “original medicine” to clients

Karen Pringle has decided it’s time to come out of the alternative medicine closet.

A longtime massage therapist in Cloquet, Pringle thinks Carlton County might finally be ready for the additional services she has to offer, including food as medicine, energy work, reflexology, herbalism, yoga, raw foods, readings and even canine consultations (for your favorite four-legged companion).

While her “new-age” talents are unfamiliar to many local residents, at the same time they are very old. Both Tibetan and Chinese medicine have their roots in Ayurveda, a system of natural healing that Pringle practices that has its origins in Africa (via India), according to Pringle.

As well, the idea that what you put in your mouth - what you eat and drink - can affect your health is nothing new or surprising. Yet Pringle is convinced that it can mean everything to a person’s well-being and is willing to help her clients figure out what steps they are willing to take to help make themselves healthier through better eating as well as juicing, among other things.

“I can work with your doctor, be your life coach, a consultant, teach you how to use food as medicine and develop a sustainable lifestyle,” Pringle said, explaining how she can work with what she calls “Western allopathic” [medical] doctors … or how she might be able to help people avoid the doctor.

Pringle said she grew up in a family that didn’t go to the doctor or hospital except for cases of severe trauma, such as broken bones.

“My mother and grandmother all did not doctor,” she said. “We do our own wellness; we are our own physicians.”

Over the years, Pringle has been called (and named herself) a number of things: massage therapist, intuitive healer, Shaman, seer and “the woman with the dreadlocks.” (Her long sandy-colored dreadlocks are, admittedly, one of the things that stand out about Pringle in northern Minnesota.)

Life consultant is the term she prefers now, although she still embraces the term “Shaman” as well. She just isn’t sure your average Northlander sees the word the same way she does.

“A Shaman is not a medical doctor,” Pringle explained in a recent interview at the Pine Journal. “A Shaman treats the whole person as a whole living organism, which is also connected, not only to the field but the individual is also connected to the community which is connected to the world. So when I work with someone, I’m looking at the things a doctor might not work with. I’m looking at the color of your skin. I’m looking at the energy surrounding you; how your eyes are radiating or twinkling or if they look like they’re dull. I’m looking to see your affect, as you present yourself. I’m looking at the lines around your mouth and eyes. I already know instinctively what you’ve gone through in your life and even now so when you’re on my table getting ‘a massage,’ because I can see what’s manifest in your organs reflexively through your feet.

“I do things with the idea of finding out why, what it the root cause that’s causing [the symptom].”

The California native moved to Cloquet more than 13 years ago, to live closer to family (her grandmother Etna Floyd was born and raised in northern Minnesota) and to raise her son here.

Cloquet was not Santa Cruz. In California, Pringle could fit in with a lot of other people who shared some of her beliefs or looked like her or knew what “energy work” meant.

She didn’t find companions in Carlton County who embraced the same ideas she did. In fact, there weren’t many who even understood them. Hanging out a shingle that read “Shaman” or “Intuitive Healer” wasn’t an option.

“I’m not a massage therapist, yet I had to open as one, especially because I was not where I am now,” explained Pringle, who rents space at at Tranquility Salon and Day Spa three days a week in Cloquet. “Now, some 6,500 hours of being hands-on with people in Cloquet ... People didn’t know what energy work was, but person after person would remark, ‘I actually felt electricity’ when they came to see me. I needed to make them understand that what they were really coming for was the energy work.

“People came in and I worked triple-time. I gave wellness, I gave intuition and I gave one of the best massages they could get in town. But I really gave people medicine, not a massage.”

According to a 2014 article in the New York Daily News, energy or energetic healing - according to healingenergy.com, an umbrella term for any therapy that manipulates the energy circuits in our physical or subtle bodies to regain balance and facilitate our body’s innate healing mechanisms - is being taken more seriously by western-trained doctors as well as the more alternative and/or eastern practitioners of healing.

“We’re not alternative medicine,” Pringle said. “We’re the original medicine.”

Pringle self-published a book this past year, “My Side of the Table: Memoirs of an Intuitive Healer,” that explains her journey - both mental and physical - to get to this point in her life.

“I don’t feel like I’m more special than anybody else,” she said. “I just happen to be somebody who tapped into a very long, 54-year journey now of understanding how to work with energy, intuition and studied a variety of modalities [therapeutic methods].”

I had not read the post about me..Kandi, until now.  I had not heard of this site until 2 days ago when my son sent me a link. My mother, Etna Floyd NEVER said any ancestors were African. She never saud she was African. I had my 30 year old granddaughter do a DNA and also my son, her father.  No where on the report does it show African. Shows lots of European ancestors, English, German, etc. No African.  Karen needs to do a DNA and prove she is African.  I was angry at her because she was claiming she could heal people from things such as Cancer and told them to cease Chemo etc. She was practicing medicine. She needs to show her diplomas from the various colleges she said she attended

The paternal grandmother was Olive Ludlow.  She lived in Livermore but not sure where she died
