I hope this is not a duplicate message. I tried replying to an old thread and not sure if it went through. Anyway I have a question about DNA Consultants. The company is churning out certificates telling testers that they have NA DNA. I have been researching the genealogy of a man named Parker Adkins who supposedly had two children with Blue Sky the supposed daughter of Shawnee Chief Cornstalk. The Adkins descendants are basing their claim to Blue Sky on the DNA results gotten from this company.

The article discusses "DNA Consultants Cherokee Study" with some critical remarks — but also applauding it?

It's difficult (for me) to fact-check the article. Below the article I found this in one of the 78 comments:

This article does not appear to be written by someone educated in population genetics or even more recent studies involving genetic studies. Lots of romanticism about Cherokees but genetics does not support any of this.

This article appears to be built on the foundation of Donald Yates and references to DNA Consultants, a known fraudulent company. His work is not even scientific and misleading. His PHD is in Classical Literature…There is so much folklore about the Appalachians but does not hold up to genetics.

Don’t forget, While Yates claimed Cherokee were one of the “Lost Tribe of Israel,” while the Israelites wandered in the Sinai lost for 40 years, we have been here in the Americas thousands of years.

https://accessgenealogy.com has been quoted in the forum about a dozen times since 2008. How reliable is it?

I did find that article in accessgenealogy. I found it confusing because as you point out, on the one hand its critical but then it also seems to endorse his work. I was hoping that there was something refuting his claims, but no one seems to want to/care to take him on. I have been following a facebook page, the Adkins Family History Group of which he is a member. He has them all convinced that they are Jewish/Melugeons/ Cherokee/ Shawnee, depending on what they want to hear.  And making money off them, selling them DNA kits and certificates that say they are NA>
