"Scout Cloud Lee"
« on: August 25, 2006, 05:10:24 pm »
Probably best known for being on one of the worst staged "reality" shows. Claims to be Seminole and sells dubious books, ceremonies, and products. Mostly vague self help stuff, but some offensive.

http://www.scoutcloudlee.com/bio.htm
"a Castaway on Survivor Vanuatu, Olympic Torch Bearer and a successful entrepreneur she inspires each person to "catch the fire of their spirit"... a blend of English, German, French and Seminole...Known as the "World's Best Friend" and a "cheerleader for the human spirit"... She has dedicated her life to being a vessel for Spirit.
Scout is the founder and President of Vision Us, Inc., a Management Development Center to explore Human Excellence. As founder of the Magical Child Foundation, Inc., an educational non-profit, she promotes peace through play...
Scout lives in Oklahoma with her partner Annie and a large animal family on their "Rise n' Shine Ranch". Their work is based at "The Ranch", their resort and training facility. As an artist and builder she has constructed homes, and a retreat site that is called a "mecca for life-altering play"... degrees in Theology, Counseling, and Higher Education...the Chief Executive Officer of Vision Us, Inc...created and set the standards for Leisure Counseling...Author of eleven books and...a book of spiritual teachings titled The Circle Is Sacred, published by Council Oak Books."

So much of that is unintentionally comical. We're supposed to be impressed by "leisure counseling"?

"Dr. Scout Lee with Dr. Carol Ann Washburn's most recent and personal book, The Circle Is Sacred...Drawing on ancient wisdom and contemporary spirituality...honoring the Circle, making drums and rattles, making prayers bundles, ritual cleansing, music, dance, sacred acts, games, creating altars and other sacred spaces, storytelling, dreamstalking, and earth etiquette. This guide to ceremony is the outgrowth of gathering of medicine women from around the world, and is augmented with words of wisdom from these women. This book has also inspired “Circle Is Sacred??? encampments held at The Ranch in Oklahoma."

"Lodge of the Stronghearts focuses on the heart of leadership and relationship skills. Teaching is based on the principles of our ancestors. We move forward by reflecting on wisdom that has proven tried and true throughout the ages.
Camps are designed for corporate executives, youth, families and groups of individuals"

"of Seminole ancestry, SCOUT was taught in the tradition of her people as a small child dedicated to "live impeccably with her spirit". To SCOUT, that means to talk her walk and walk her talk....
Women elders from around the world gathered at The Ranch for an international women's camp with the intention to pass on their knowledge, experience and wishes for future generations. As an outgrowth of that camp, Scout wrote The Circle Is Sacred: A Medicine Book for Women . The book compels us to tap into the feminine aspect of divinity to achieve balance and wholeness. Scout's knowledge of the science of ancient teachings may be the most comprehensive of any person alive today."

"based on ancient indigenous ideals that encompass a blend of Native American, Christian, Australian Aboriginal, and New Age concepts.
This illustrated book provides a wealth of resources to link readers to their own authentic, sacred powers through the making of alters, sacred arts, high games for groups, ritual cleansings, dream-stalking, and vision questing."

"Through the Challenge Ropes course, ceremonies and experiential strategic games, people learn to set an intention, focus and make positive choices that lead to personal transformation.
Music, art, movement and ritual  representing various indigenous cultures become the healing medicine of the soul"

Can't forget this little gutbuster!
http://www.scoutcloudlee.com/news.php
"I have been guided by the inspiring spirits of incarnate clowns, self proclaimed masters, pop-bellied preachers, tireless teachers, talking trees and rocks, little gray space beings, and harsh life coaches.
The indominable and loving spirits of my animals have sustained me whenever no human could. The raging, compassionate spirits of Jesus, Ghandi, Geronimo, Tina Turner, Alice Walker, Sister Teresa, and Janis Joplin have shown me how to channel fire into love."

And she sells her own perfume called Integrity.

Ingeborg passed along this translation of her publisher's statement.

"Scout Cloud Lee - The Circle is Sacred. A Medicine Book for Women

This richly illustrated book bases on ancient traditional wisdoms as well as
contemporary spirituality. Every reader thus receives insights into the
possibility of getting in touch with her own strength as well as with that of
a continually growing circle of women. The book covers issues as honoring
the circle, making rattles and drums and prayer bundles, ritual cleansing,
music, dance, holy actions, games, creating of altars, the female moon cyclus
and female strength, fire women, healing circles of women, woman as a
warrior, searching for dreams, asking for visions, telling stories, fun as an
exalted medicine, the giveaway, and the etiquette of earth.

These instructions for the holy ceremonies of women is the result of a meeting
of different medicine women. It carries words of deep wisdom of this world,
which were gathered during this meeting. Among others they come from Alinta,
a medicine woman of the Australian aborigines, from Princess Moon Feather, a
100-year-old Cherokee Indian, from Mahisha, the Elder of the tribal women of
Hawaii, from Spider Red-Gold whose roots are in the celtic tradition, from
Grandmother Kitty, the Elder of the Seneca tribe, and from Cactus who knows
how to do altars and drums, and many many others.

Attentive readers will receive many healing and most agreeable ideas for a
life in peace with themselves, others, and nature. Scout Cloud Lee gives
insights into the wisdoms of Indian tribes of North America and shows how to
use these wisdoms in our modern and fast-moving times. Furthermore, the book
is an excellent documentation of contemporary American female spirituality,
compiled and written by a women who was important in shaping this movement
herself.

Dr. Scout Cloud Lee is a pioneer of experimental learning and consciousness
techniques. She lives and works on her own ranch in Oklahoma. She has built
an archaic village there for her seminars and teachings, complete with totems
and stone circles, medicine wheels, and sweatlodges: a place at which people
are challenged and can change in a protected ceremonial framwork.

320 pages, 80 pictures"

Archaic village? Is the racism from the publisher or Lee?
I interviewed a Seminole vet for my book. What he describes about their beliefs are nothing like this, no surprise.

I believe "Grandma Kitty" is an associate of Twyla Nitsche's.
Alinta is actually Lorraine Mafi Williams, whose passed on.

Seems pretty highly regarded, but I doubt she would ever approve of someone like Lee.

She came out strongly vs Marlo Morgan. (Actually, think I'll turn this article into a warning.)

At least one other culture vulture is twisting her words.

Couldn't find anything on the other alleged elders? Anyone? Any of our pagan members ever hear of Spider Red Gold?

Debbie got her tagged.  She was a MC for Thunder in 2000 for some conference. http://www.marythunder.com/SpiritualServiceEvents/4DConference/4D2000/Elder/Scout_Cloud_lee.htm            What in the world is "dream stalking"?  Thought those Elder names might be listed on Thunder's website, couldn't find them. frederica

I used to be on her mailing list. Very boring. But she would go on and on about her groupies, as I call them. THis woman was one of them. While she was on survivor, Every email was about supporting her. I don't even watch that show and I knew how it was going.
